Question Is your console cold?

The top and sides of my console (and the contents) get icy cold from the A/C. I'm sure it's because the rear vents are fed through there, but I've never had a car get the console so cold before. I mean, it's a mini-refrigerator.

Does everyone's do that, or does mine maybe have a leaky vent inside the console?

My car does the same thing. I suspect that it's normal.

Mine does the same thing.

I've also noticed that the metal parts in the steering and the gearbox gets pretty warm

Thats exactly what it is. When i removed the console to install my short shifter, the HVAC ducts flow around the cup holders and console to the rear vents. Nice "feature" to keep drinks cold.

i bet if it were winter time, someone would say that the console was really hot and that it was a nice feature to keep your coffee warm!

yes, this has been discussed before It'll be icy cold in the summer when your AC is running and nice and warm in the winter when heat is on.

Like a built-in fridge for your cupholders

I wonder if the seat heaters would keep me warm enough so I could keep the cool air flowing under the cup holders..... hmmmm....
