Yet another Trans Question
Yet another Trans Question
Looking for some input here. Just bought a 05 TL with the 5at 68K on the odometer. Just did a 1x1 drain and fill with the new DW1 fluid. Trans shifts fine except for holding the second to third and third to forth shift. Plan on doing the pressure switches this weekend. My question is should I finish the 3x3 with the honda DW1 or switch to Redline D4. My only concern is changing from honda fluid to something else with the mileage my car has, as I do not know what was done before I bought it. The fluid I drained didn't smell burnt and was still red just darker than new fluid. Thanks for your responses.
and to make your life easier. here's the short answer..
change your 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches
don't switch to redline d4. instead go for redline racing ATF.
and a car with your miles (70k) its fine to do a 3x3 with the new redline racing atf. it's best to get the OEM ATF out of your tranny ASAP. if you had over 100k miles than maybe i would tell you to slowly do a 1x3, but at your mileage you should just do a 3x3 asap.
honda z1, honda dw1 = crap
redline racing atf / amsoil = is where it's at
and if you still have questions i suggest you read the link i linked to you.... i know it's alot of pages but it should definitely answer any questions you have.

Thanks, decided after reading the thread to go with 2 quarts redline racing and 1 quart lightweight racing. Thanks for your help and also thanks to IHC and Inaccurate for all their work and the write up in the other thread.
