Year to year differences
Hi,
I'm new to the TL board, a current TSX owner and Acurazine member, and was looking for a detailed listing of the differences in amenities, performance, etc between model years of the current generation TL. I tried the search function but came up with nothing useful. Anyone able to point me in the right direction or care to create the list. Thanks.

2004 - first year, 270HP, 238TQ
2005 - Second year, same power numbers, only way to tell an 05 from an 04 is the steering wheel. On the 04, the "A" symbol is a black glossy back, with a chrome "A", all flat. On the 05, the "A" is a chrome "A" embedded right into the wheel so you can actually feel it (if this makes sense?!).
2006 - Third year, new SAE ratings for power bring HP down to 258. Only way to tell difference is to look at wheels and check valve stem area. Looks very different due to addition of TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system)
2007 - Fourth, and current year. Minor face-lift includes the following:
- New headlights
- New lower valence foglights (previous years the fog was integrated in the headlight housing)
- New front bumper with larger grill opening
- New tail lights
- New rear bumper
- New wheel design
- Auto Headlights
- Daytime Running Lights
- Phone Book Upload for the BT, versus having to manually put each one in for the 04-06
- Addition of Type-S with the 3.5L from the RL producing 286 HP with the new ratings, 300HP with the old ratings.
That should be about it. Other than that, the cars all have the same features. The auto headlights are not really new as the 04-06 still turn off automatically, just not light sensing like the 07

For 05, the passenger airbag light was moved from the gauge cluster to the center of the dash in between the vents (hazard light button was cut in half).
For 06, the backlighting on the stereo was changed to have a more blue look...looks like crap and is hard to read.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for posting in the wrong section. I was looking at the picture gallery and the question popped in my head. Just started typing. It's nice to see the TL board is as useful as the TSX one. Anyway...........I'm surprised there were no meaningful (to me) changes from '04 to '06. For the TSX, each year brought numerous changes; some small (heated mirrors), some pretty major (sat radio, bluetooth, MP3 input, memory seat positions, power passenger seat, etc). Did the integrated turn signal on the side mirror appear on the '07 TL as well? More replies welcome.

'07 TLS models have more heavily bolstered seats in unique color combinations, unique stitched leather in the door panels (in place of perforated leather), CF dashboard and door trim (in place of dark wood), TYPE S badging on the trunk and steering wheel, unique 'meshed' lower grilles (front & rear bumper inserts), black trimmed headlights, smoked side marker lights, heavier springs and tighter shock absorbers, larger diameter front disks and Brembo calipers, larger diameter sway bars in front and rear, and of course those not-so-popular wheels.

oh, and the horsepower did not drop from the 04/05' to 06', measurement method changed. before 06', hp was measured at the flywheel giving 270 hp. after 05' it was measured at the wheels showing 258hp.

?! What's the transmission difference? Still 5AT? Was it just to give the Type-S paddle shifters?

Hi again, I'm the OP and apologize for beating this horse. I see there are many changes done to the '07 TL, but very few done from '04 to '06. Does this mean that aside from the A emblem, some stitching on the seat and the movement of a dashlight and change in backlight that the '04 TL has the same feature set as the '06. I'm particularly interested in TL's w/ MT only. I know the MT's have Brembo rotors and a stiffer suspension as well as the available A-Spec package. Were there no minor upgrades in amenities such as memory seating, one-touch pwr windows, MP3 jacks, etc? As I said, sorry for beating this post, I just see you folks as the best source of info. Can't seem to find a comprehensive listing anywhere. Thanks again for any help.
