Havent posted in a while, but if you guys happen to run into one of these, they are probably one of the fastest SUV's around. I had 2 middle eastern guys in a white X5M pull up to me at a light. They revved and were smiling as i looked over. They said "we got more power than you." I replyed mine is "a bit" lighter. Anyway, I didnt launch too hard to avoid the attention of tire squeal, but they kept up to about the top of 2nd when I started walking them slowly. Stopped at begining of 4th around 115 or so a few lengths ahead. I honestly was shocked and how fast it was. Prob as fast, if not slightly faster, than the M6 Vert' I ran. Funny times when your SUV is faster than your performance cars.

 

Yes, they're very fast. I believe they're making around what, 555 bhp out of a twin turbo V8? Tons of power and torque.

 

This was against ur c6? X5 with the 4.8 is pretty fast already... the X5M engine is overkill

 

i bet there's a little less tooth in those smiles the next time
i wonder: is there anything more familiar, nostalgic, and satisfying in the mental fresco of american streets than the almost inevitable flourish of vette tails upon countless challengers?

Good race man! I'm waiting to get a chance at one.. thinkin it will be dead-nutz even with me... not sure how much faster if all you are to a C5 Z but I raced my buddy and he only pulled about 1.5 cars on me til 90mph from a dig...

 

IIRC, the X5M is currently the quickest SUV on the market. After having mine handed to me (and my MDX's) by a Cayenne GTS, it's amazing to think that * would pull on the CGTS.

 

My boss just got a RR Sport Supercharged and was wondering if it was the fastest SUV. I said the X5M is probably faster and he had me look it up. I believe the X5M is around 4.6 0-60 and the RRS is 5.9... a huge difference.

 

I will take any of them SUV .....

Sporty .... check
Luxury .... check
Comfy for road trip .... check
Room for more than 2 .... check
Appearance .... check
Power ..... check
All weather capability ..... check

 

The only SUV I can think of thatll come close to the X5M is a Cayenne TurboS and I'm pretty sure even that is outmatched

Bringing a Jeep SRT8 to a race versus the X5M is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. But I will say that the SRT8 does seem to have the best launch of this high powered posse.

 

I would be interested to see how the ML63 holds up against the X5M and X6M. It sure destroyed this Cayenne Turbo S!

I figured originally that '12 model would be able to compete with the X5M. But apparently, even though it has an equal 0-60 of 4.8, the SRT8 is only expected to do around mid-13s in the QTR; a near second slower than the X5M.

So, even if the actual owners can knock that time down to 13 flat easily, the big German still has a half second on them.

yes X5M's are stupid fast period...I personally drove one and timed it 0-100mph pull and then put on the brakes to a complete stop in exactly 11.3sec....Thats insane for a big ass SUV...my passenger who was riding with me had a tear come out of his way from the launch(yes with the M-button activated).....

This would be my choice if I was looking for a SUV and could afford one!

btw: 0-100mph pull was done with no other vehicles around and in very safe environment with no people around!(for those who love to critique)
