is it just me or does everyone hear some sort of turbo spooling up. everytime i drive it, i hear wherl sounds. it definitely sounds pretty cool. all my friends ask me if i have a turbo and i was like, i dont think so.

this happens mostly on 1st and 2nd gear, and its from low to high rpms, so i dont think its the vtec, vtec doesnt sound like that anyway

maybe acura shoved a turbo in there without an intercooler :clown:

The sound reminds me of my old 66 Chevelle which had an Muncy M22 Rockcrusher tranny. The M22 made that sound because of the "straight cut" gears. The only thing I can think of is the cut of the gears in the tranny.

 

but i dont think the gears are straight cut in the TL, its definitely an awsome noise, because i love hearing that thing wherl

 

Does it happen at exactly 88 MPH? That's just your Flux-Capacitor kicking in. Totally normal. :toothless

I love the engine sound. I thought it was going to be a muscle, loud, sounding engine and instead I got a cooler sound. It sounds like those generators in movies that are set to overload right before they blow up :p

 

How do you like the Falken's on your TL - nice match? Had them on my previous car - was considering them again.

 

Hey, I won a 99 TL and I get the same sound. Very subtle though. I think it started happening when I put in the K&N air filter.
