Wow... lame.
Got the car monday and already put a 1 inch scratch on the forward right rim. Kind of rediculous the extent these things stick out. Are the rims painted? Almost looks like it took paint off instead of metal. /sigh

Take it to a wheel shop.....here in the Midwest we have Mr. Wheel shops which repair wheels and recondition them.
Boss has a S55 AMG and messed one of his up pretty bad. $75 later it was as good as new.
For real, any reputable wheel shop that reconditions rims will make it as good as new.

Thanks, appreciate the info. Can't even see the scratch unless you look for it but I got this car on Monday so this is pissing me off to no end.

Back before the site conversion, a guy named Spud had before and after shots of his TL wheel......several people on here have used wheel shops and Spud's shots just further solidified that they can work wonders on our wheels.

Yeah, I know, seriously. When I first grazed the curb I got out and looked around for a good min before I found the scratch, and now not only do I know its there but I see whenever I look at the car, lol.

GaleForce - Just curious, do you think it would have helped to have one of those tires with the "rim-protector" rubber on it? I'm wondering if people think those things would really work over time, or just get chewed up and look like crap.

Yes, I do think it would have helped... the scratch is right on the rim where the rim meets the tire. I didn't have time to hose my car off, so I didn't use my rim cleaner, but I was cleaning the windows and used some glass cleaner on the scratch and it really made it less noticable.

so true. Examined my car up and down at delivery - saw nothing. While doing my first wash/wax - I see someone touched up a chip by the gas door - only certain angles do you see it - but now that I know it - my eyes zero in on it and pisses me off - like dealer got one over on me. Yep - think my wife is drawing up either the divorce papers or the papers to put me away in a padded room.

Am I alone in not caring about scratches on my wheels nearly as much as the body? My TL had a small, 1/2" nick on one wheel when I gave it it's first wax job, and I didn't even care. A smaller scratch on one of the door handles had me sweating nails, though. I guess I'm a body man, not a wheel man.

I did the same thing, scratched the same wheel. It drives me frickin Crazy. All I look at when I walk toward the car is that spot where I scratched the Rim. I have a Body shop and still havent fixed it. It happened three weeks ago. I need to get it done. My cousin is coming to see me and loves this car. It has to be perfect upon his inspection. I am so cautious when I park this car. That first ding is going to kill me, literally. I park way out in the ball feild at every shopping mall. No One is aloud to park next to my car.

Where I work there are a few "sweet" parking spots that have more room around them and where you're pretty much guaranteed not to get a ding. Some mornings I get one, some I don't. I don't mind when those spaces are occupied by other nice cars - one guy has a brand new Audi, another has a new Lexus. What pisses me off is that once in a while I can't one of those spaces because someone has parked their '94 Saturn or '88 Ford Escort there. The thing is, these spaces are not convenient, so nobody picks them "accidentally." You have to want to park away from everything else. It drives me nuts when some clueless wonder thinks their POS car needs "protection" and is worthy of one of those spaces - while my TL has to be parked in a more vulnerable spot. The morons have as much right to park there as I do, but in the name of all that is good, why do they???
