Most people who buy sedans do so for the additional two doors and back seat.

Comparing a coupe to a sedan is apples to oranges, IMO.

Yeah, you might want to compare to the 5 series instead of the 3.

Well with first one you won't get the options the TL has for (supposedly)39k.

Even if money wasn't a factor in the decision, I'd choose the TL. I hate the BMW navi and I just can't get used to the newer BMW styling. They've really screwed the pooch in the appearance department, IMO.

While the BMW would probably drive better, etc., I like the way the TL drives enough to not care that I might get just a little more performance from the uglier car with the crappy navi.

#1 for sure. It looks great, its fast, it the ultimate drving machine, and ALLLLLL maintance is free for 50k. You can't beat it. I am sorry but. 40 grand for a TL is Crazy. Please don't take that the wrong way because I LOVE my TL.

i'd take the bmw if price is not an issue....TL is the best car for its price. oh yeah, i LOVE my TL fyi.

agree to the post above, 40k for TL is kinda crazy, even if it is OTD price, i still cant justify the 5k+ difference between 07 TL-S and my 06 TL, but thats just me

i got to admit the bmw is nice. but for the price of 40k what does it come with? does it have real leather or fake? does it come with nav or no? is xenon standard or no? the service of them taking care of your car for 5 years, no big thing they will change your oil every 10k about.. no big thing... dont get me wrong i love bmw alot i really do hehe.. but if the bmw does not come with the goods for 40k on the 335 and only a nice engine but nothing nice inside the car its not worth it to me...

its probably about 10 to 12k difference comparably equipped. The TL is still best bang for the buck. If money wasnt an issue and i was gona spend more on a bmw, I'd get a 5 series. If money really wasn't an issue at all, i'd be in the M5

The TL Type-S . . . that had been A-Speced out. I don't like the design (interior or exterior wise) of the BMW.

the 335 hands down. you can't compare the two cars at all, the 335 is in a totally diff league. 0-60 5.1, 1/4 in 13.6.
The type-s is overpriced and even the 07 G35 is a better value.
a nicely equipped 335 will prob run around 45-46K including nav and sport package, one of the few options available on the car.

The M5 has always been a dream car of mine. Who wouldn't enjoy 400+hp w/ a man-tran to spice up the commute?! I'd offer to go pick up lunch everyday, too, as long as I'm the only one in the p-lot. Knowing how I park w/ my TL I can only imagine what parking an M5 would be like!

By far the TL is the best for the buck in this class. You would have to add at least 5k to any standard offering to equal the TL's appointments. And what kind of price can you put on this wonderful Acurazine community of brothers? (Sorry sisters) Can you imagine the Bimmer owners sitting around discussing the dust that accumulates on their back bumpers? (Sorry I started that one!) They're too busy snooting each other. Sorry, ding069! I know it's not that bad. Bimmer owners are people, too.

I would say the tl. You should see some pictures of a bmw that got into an accident. Lady sideswiped another car on rt. 78, turns out the car is in for 13 weeks of repair, it had soo much damage that the dashboard was actually lifted/creased in the center.

Hows that for an expensive car?

Still don't like the Bangle Bimmers...don't like the TL-S, either...if I had to pick one, I'd take the TL, but my 04 looks better than both of them.

you know you are completely right. X5world.com was NOTHING like acurazine at all. there is no sort of community, it is just post and get a reply. acurazine has a great bunch of members who really go above and beyond what is expected of a forum, and i love it

however, i love the 335i and i think it may be my next car in 2008, if nothing else better comes up between now and then. maybe the 09 TL will be so hot, but odds are it will be priced too high for an Acura.

My brother-in-law just got the 335i. Was one of the first off the lot. There's no question that bimmer drives and feels on the road 10 times better than current TL does, and with maximum torque starting at just 1400rmps it's insanely fast. By the way 0-60 time is 4.9 seconds. But the real question here is that would you be willing to cash out another 12-13 grand for the comparably equipped bimmer. At 50K it's a really expensive car. While for about 37 you can have TL with everything, A-spec body kit and a suspension. Looks I don't know. They both look great in their own way. So money is defintely the issue here.

same here, as soon as my TL is paid off, its trade in time. ill go for the e90 335i or a used e46 m3. not really an acura hater but always been a bmw fan for as long as i can remember.

Well I built a 335i comparable to the TL's specs and it is around $48k. I think that if I were to get a my annual 7% raise every year for the next 3 years I might go this route once I'm done with my TL. So your looking before taxes, title, and all that jazz to be about $10k more. But I did look at the leasing option on their site, and putting $5000k down with a 36 month lease your payments woud be about $485 a month.........thats $45 less than I'm paying for my finance payment Makes me alittle sick to my tummy.

Most people tell me I look like a BMW guy(females:P). I do like them but i have the car I want. Wasn't suppose to ge til I was at least 25. Plan on paying that off ASAP so hopefully all the money will go into the house. As an artist I have a very vivid imagination of my first house layout and additions Making moves as we speak.

I also agree with the comparing of a single guy car to one with a family who might like to track it every now and then on the weekends

The assessment fee alone is at $4200. The lease at 12K a year for 36 months is at $760. And I pay $450 for my TL

I might take a TL only if it were AWD or RWD. 40K for a TL doesnt bother me as long as it's worth it.

I dont know how you can consider, 0-60 in 4.9, extreamly fast?

4.9 for the car that hasn't even been broken in. This 335i according to car and driver shows results of current M3 model. I'd say that's pretty damn fast for a stock 3.0 liter engine and especially compared to TL. And don't forget that the maximum torque of 300lb-ft starts only at 1400 rmp and stays with you until 5000

Sorry guys, I'd take the TL. I commute 25K a year, and the maintenance/QC problems with Bimmers make the decision for me.

I need as close to an "appliance" as I can get in a car.

I don't think for one minute that the BMW isn't a better car, but price has something to say about that too.

Coming from an unreliable BMW it feels great to be in a TL now. But BMW disease is in my blood I can't help it. I am a big fan of the E34/36/38/39/46 but not a fan at all of anything after that (the "bangled" cars) I saw the 335i in a mag and thought eh......then I saw it on the road. It's that sport package that makes all the difference! I was totally taken aback. WOW Especially the rear end, looks gorgous.

Who said 4.9 isn't that fast??? That's old skool Porsche 911 turbo numbers! Ever drive an E36 M3? It will break the doors off even a supercharged TL and it did 0-60 back in 1997 in "only" 5.5 sec. I want to see how the 2008 M3 will look. If it looks even better than the 335i, trust me, it will be in my driveway. TL would still be my trusty dependable commuter though.

I agree, for total vehicle experience and ownership I'd go with the TL.

I've driven the E90 330i and the engine, handling and steering response are superior to the TL. But the interior size, some cheap looking materials used inside, and overall reliability work against me ever owning one.

Also having a brother who'd owned 5 BMW's (which I've maintained) makes it a easier decision.

Dont get me wrong, 4.9 is quick, but I wouldnt consider it fast. But on the other hand I guess you could consider it fast compared to the tl

That is the honest truth if I ever heard it, they should have just carried over the A-spec wheels and called it a day. I see someone from the Pontiac Aztek design team has found a new job at Acura..

Now to that 335. Bringing that TL type S is like bringing a knife to a gunfight, not a very good idea and you will soil your pants when the fight is over. I would take that BMW anyday and if you are talking 6-7 over, I am on board..That TL Type S is a little to Pontiac Grand AM to me for the money. Red dash lights with embroidered headrest? Just need some plastic strips on the outside of the doors..

But in all seriousness, I know two BMW owners who have had their cars keyed, I don't have time in my schedule to hang out in the lobbies of body shops, so I guess I am on board with the TL, not that bad at all..
