I'm in the market for a J Pipe, race pipe and possibly a high flow cat.
I was going to get them new off helltoe, but I found this listing on kijiji recently
Question is, would you buy these parts used? I'v heard bad things about used exhaust parts

either he's desperate to get rid of them or something is going on...

can you meet up with him beforehand to check them out yourself?

 

Apparently he bought the car with mods and wants to make it stock so hes selling the parts
ya id meet up and check it out before I buy it, but i'm not sure what sort of flaws i would be looking for. Am I just looking for holes? cause it sure does look rusty as hell already lol

 

you're looking for cracks, broken welds, holes, broken studs, etc.

that jpipe is definitely scraped up big time. looks like he bottomed out and scraped it, although it should not affect anything so long as it's not rusting out.

Do you know what the clearance on this j pipe is?
my cars dropped 1.5' and i'm looking to drop it even more next summer (probabbly 2' or 2.5')

 

^that's def an old jpipe. you will certainly have clearance issues with that one if you're lowered and hit something (speed bump,etc)

there are later models of the jpipe (from RV6/xlr8) that have better clearance for lowered cars.

i've never once scraped my jpipe and it's richies rv6 v3 model.

 

yah I had my eye on the new rv6 j pipe too.Im not too keen on those pre cat deletes either (wouldnt pass emissions). Soooooo tempting though, thats close to $1000 worth of exhaust parts for only $250.
Should I try to pry the used high flow cat from this guy or just get a new test/race pipe?

 

Buy it and I'll pay you an extra $100 for your time if everything is legit.

Im worried about the j pipe and the clearance of the first gen atlp j pipes...im looking to get the pre cats and the high flow cat..maybe for $150? hah
