worth touching up small chip on hood?
So after driving on highway, i have about 3 small tiny chip marks on the hood. they are literally size of a dot. If i dont touch it up, will the chip mark get bigger and eventually rust? or should i just leave it?

I think so. If you touch it up properly it's far less likely to rust in the future.
How "crazy" you go in trying to make it perfect is up to you. Generally as little touch up paint as you need to cover the chip is all you need. No need to blob it. I usually use a toothpick that's been split down to a very pointy tip and only fill the chip. You can still see it if you look but much less so than the blob you will get if you use a brush.

touch up paint now or they will get worse--rust can occur
and you want to start winter with as much protection of paint to metal ,,and wax to paint as you can~

if its to the metal i would because itll rust....ive had it happen and i took care of it quickly at my body shop ....a lil touch up.... a few days later a wet sand and buff...no more mess, on the lil spots u can kinda get away with it....but anything bigger u cant.

Hey guys, I also have a question. I have a 2.5" inch scratch on the trunk which isn't deep. Also i have multiple little chips on the hood and bumpers. Do you think i should use touch up paint on the trunk scratch?

if the scratch is not that deep on the trunk, then try polishing it out ... for chips you are probs going to have to use the touch up paint

I wouldnt use the touch up paint on bigger scraches like that, I only use if for rock chips because you wanna seal it up ASAP so you dont get water in there, and thats not correct, if its to the metal you CANNOT "get away with it" any bare metal will rust over time

I've had several, small, dot-sized chips on my hood for several years. No rust.
My personal opinion, but I would just leave it. Oftentimes, touch-up paint makes the blemish much more visible than if you just left it alone.
Even if you do decide to touch it up, you are pretty much guaranteed to get more chips in the future. Cheers.
