Wish he hit me a little bit harder!

Miserable isn't even the word. Guy cuts across 3 lanes (I'm in my own left hand turn lane with a Green arrow) to hit my Passenger side Fender break BOTH my headlights bumper and hood is a little bent rim in scratched and a Broken axel and god know what else. Deff not totaled but just retarted people who don't know how to drive.

Brought my car to DCH Montclair Acura there having there body shop come for an estimate tomorrow which is Clairmount Auto Body in Montclair NJ.

Service guy says oh maybe you'll have it back next TUESDAY.. BULLSHIT.

Im sure about 3 weeks...... Also let me know they don't use OEM parts everything will be aftermarket, i let him know I will be back to haunt him I'm sure cause I'm very meticulous with things.

He said both headlights will be aftermarket as well, and if one is that will be a fight as well because who wants a new aftermarket headlight and a used on the other side which has a crack in it so i think..

posting pics in a few minutes look out of for them..

Demand OEM parts. You should have the same equipment on your vehicle after it is fixed that you had on it before the accident. Do not let yourself get screwed, stand up for yourself or take it to someone who will put OEM parts on your car. This dude's insurance is paying for it, the dealer should have no problem putting OEM parts on your car.

i looked at 2 CPO's before I got mine.. both were previously involved in front end collisions where the airbag deployed. One drove funny. The other I saw prior to the reconditioning... That alone turned me off to it even after seeing it after the reconditioning. CPO doesn't mean jack, if you ask me.

Depends on the repair shop. I got rear-ended a while back and the repair job was perfect. Car looked better after the accident than before.

It does to me as long as it wasn't in an accident . Of course not all CPO vehicles are going to be pristine/ not involved in a accident.

Stop being selfish and vain. Have some reputable shop repair it with OEM parts, it'll be good as new. Meticulously inspect their work and make sure its to your liking. Cars aren't disposable cups.....they are investments, sometimes they need a little repair.

You don't HAVE to go with the shop the insurance company says, you can have an adjuster come out, appraise the damage, and they will cut you a check for that amount. Then you can take it anywhere you want...perhaps even pocket some of the money.

interesting how an acura dealer recommends a shop that doesnt use OEM.

CPOs are for people that dont want to take the time to get it inspected and want a warranty. My private party TL has given me no major problems since I bought it in Feb and had it inspected at a japanese indy shop.

Well heres the story, I guess since the dealer brings it to there body shop (must be good work) the insurance company gives them the money & then acura gives money to body shop somewhere along the line acura it self is getting money and so is the body shop... So instead I brought the car to the body shop my self and totally cut acura out of the picture. Fathers friend owns the shop he will be using NEW OEM parts which include 2 new headlights, the driver side was cracked by impact, New bumper, never passenger side fender, Rim, Axle, and possible a new rack & pinion thing i assume because wheel just sticks in which ever direction you leave it in (doesn't turn back when making a turn)

Why did you even bother to go the dealership in the first place? Good luck with the repairs.

I was right down the road so it was easier to just bring the car their.

Does anyone have picture of Front end body work that had done on their TL? Including new headlights, grille anything in that sort... Im a big nut case on how things line up and look in the end if anythings off I won't be bringing the car home that day.

Sucks to hear this and yeah selling fixed cars is something you do, not tell a car forum your active in about.

2 months from now when this car is posted in black market everybody gonna be like: Isn't that the car that got wrecked a couple months ago. Do you have a carfax? etc...

Good luck with repairs.

before it appears on a Carfax?? Was the car totaled? Did the insurance buy it back?
So you had an accident....accidents don't show up on Car Fax! Trust me I know and I'll never trust "Car Fax" ever again!!!!!!
My 2002 Grand Prix GTP came out of a Texas auto auction...the dealer told me so. So I put $1000 down on it and two days later I walk out first thing in the morning and dew has covered the windshield....except in the dew I can read the following..............*UNI-BODY DAMAGE*
took te car to a body shop and sure enough it had been quartered on the passenger front at some point....didn't show up on the car fax...

While I had it, I got sandwiched...just bet ya that wasn't on the car fax either...
If it cost's ya DO NOT BUY A CAR FAX!!!!!!!!!
The only thing a car fax shows is whether the car was salvaged or not!

And what is really sad/funny/a crock:

Just because it is salvaged, does not mean anything was ever wrong with it, or it was in an accident!

- A car could be:

- Stolen and driven across the street
- Abandoned

and turn out to be salvaged

It could also have very little damage and be salvaged because the owner forced the insurance co. to buy it, or lived in a state with Diminished Value

I've had 5 salvaged cars that were some of my best cars.

Look if you’re going to drive a car, chances are it’ll get scuffed up a little bit, and that’s exactly why we have body shops and insurance. As long as he’s paying for the damages and you don’t have to pay a deductible or get a hike in your auto insurance quote, its fine. A good body shop will fix it up and it’ll be good as new.

WELL today is saturday and I picked my car up at Noon.

The car was ready yesterday Mid Morning!

When It looks good, i mean it looks better then when i first got the car in June 2011!

The front bumper was replaced with an aftermarket bumper which looks NO different then my other one. I was SO glad to get 2 Factory Headlights straight from Honda. The owner of the body shop showed me all the boxes from the parts he ordered since i was upset about all the aftermarket parts talk late last week. I need a new control arm on the right side where i was hit and obviously a wheel alignment because i was hit while attempting to turn. The car drives SO much better and looks pretty much new believe it or not. The entire check sent to the body shop was 5,989.43!

The car was in an accident last Wednesday Afternoon, moved to body shop thursday Morning. Parts were ordered Friday and all came in between monday-tuesday of this week car was Done Friday Morning. Fastest body work!

CPO does mean jack... it means that if my TL shits the bed before 100k miles / 7yrs i have a backup plan to protect my pocket book.

if that isn't peace of mind, then knowing if i don't use the warranty within that time at all, i get the money i paid for the extended warranty back ...and yes, car is not going in for any minor work. warranty means either a) my engine blew up or b) something over $1600 some odd dollars crapped out.

Does that aftermarket bumper say "Acura" in the front? When I was looking for a TL, I found one that didn't say Acura on it and it was an aftermarket bumper.. just curious if all aftermarket bumpers are like that or just some.

to be honest i didn't look! i was hoping they wouldn't put the license plate on! I'm thinking it doesn't say "acura" because In my estimate and final work report it says NEW LICENSE PLATE MOUNT & i notice how much newer this one is not so gray and washed out like my other one.

They even got the original mismatch on the color between the bumper cover and fender the same as the original (in looking at the pix).

I swear. I think like 4% of drivers with Jersey plates actually know how to drive.
I had one lady just come to a STOP on I-80 in the second lane so she can take the exit.

Jersey drivers

I'm pretty sure you don't have to try to get the bumper to mismatch. It's the difference in material (so I've been told). Even if you could, why would you? People who know paint will be able to spot body work regardless, the other 99% of people won't know or care.
