Wing Or Deck Spoiler??? Help!!
Wing Or Deck Spoiler??? Help!!
Need opinions! I am picking up my car this week and can't decide!
For those who read my other thread, I'm 90% settled on NBP/Ebony...
Since I have a slight concern about the TL looking small, I'm thinking the wing spoiler will help make it look a little bigger or more substantial. BUT, I don't want a "pimped-out" ride...
Is the wing "cool," or "cheezy"??
Thoughts??

Few Cars that look good
In my opinion, there are a few cars that look with out a spoiler..BMW is one of them, that look classy with out a spoiler, or sporty.. and the TL too. Doesn't look bad with it, but I don't think the car needs the spoiler to give it a sporty look. I think Acura did a good job making the car look nicley stream lined w/o having to add it.

Get the deck lid spoiler. It most resembles the cars natural lines. Otherwise, go without one. The deck lid spoiler is subtile. If you dont get it, you wont notice.

Looks like most are in favor of the Deck Lid. I agree it's more subtle and classy.
Just as a comparison, you never see a wing on a BMW 5, and Audi A6, or a Mercedes E class...
I think deck lid might be the way to go...thanks!
Any other opinions?

I think the basic rule of thumb with this class of vehicle is this: If you want your car to look like a luxury sports car, then get the wing spoiler. If you want it to look like a sporty luxury car, then you can get the deck spoiler, or simply not get a spoiler at all.
In this case, the wing spoiler adds significantly to the "sporty" look, but takes away from the "luxury sedan" look. The deck spoiler does the opposite (in comparison to the wing).
It really depends on what you're looking for with your car. Color choice plays into this as well. Those looking for luxury sports cars tend to buy brighter colors (like Red), whereas those looking sporty luxury cars tend to buy more classical colors (like Black or Silver). Again, these are rules of thumb, so there are always exceptions.

I think wings are on the way out... lips are in.. but that's just here.. we have a wing on our accord just cause it needed it!
I may put the lip on the Acura IF we ever get one.
Check out some newer sport models of cars.. no wings unless the manufacturer is going for a younger crowd.. ie Evo, STi, ...
Just think of them as handles on the grocery cart

Also, I see on cTLgo's pic above the results of "debadging" the TL. Everyone has their own tastes, but to me, it really "dulls" the back of the car not to have this badging. It's not gaudy and not overwhelming, so why remove it? Again, it's preference I know. I just think it makes the back plain.
Wing all the way! I think decklid spoiler is a waste of money. Spending that amount of money to get a lil plastic part that you can't even notice unless you are right next to the car is a waste imo. The wing spoiler also accentuates the lines of the car real well and seeing all the new TL's on the road lately, my car stands that much more just because of the wing. But of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

The wing is not as classy as the decklid spoiler. Well said.
Personally I think the deck lid is not worth it. If your going to have a deck lid then make it have just a bit more presence. I would not put anything on or the wing. The back end is nice enough without a little bump that looks like it does not belong on the car.

DECK LID is Classic !!!
