Windshield Pitted
My windshield is severely pitted. When the sun shines on it, it looks like a zillion little pindots. The car is almost three years old now, but I've had other cars this long and haven't had this happen to this extent.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do other than change the glass?

Yeah mine was so bad that I had it replaced. Luckily, my glass is fully covered by my insurance.
I asked for the OEM part and it looks good as new. NYC winters are what does it. When they spray sand all over the place when it snows, that sand just starts pounding on your glass.
If you get a new windshield, you'll need a new one in another 2-3 years. Get glass coverage on your insurance.

I have the same problem w/ mine, but I drive 100 highway miles every day for work. Get a lotta pebbles spit up at windshield. Will definately check out to see if it can be polished. Thanks for the tip!

Is auto glass being made differently these days?
I just don't remember my parents ever having to replace the windshield.
My 88 honda that I drove for over 100K never had a problem. But my 2000 car had to have the windshield replaced twice?!?!
Is it me or does it seem the glass is just not as durable these days.

Most of the difference is the result of safety issues that keep the windshield from being a nasty threat in the event of an accident.
So, it's kind of a good and bad change.

Did a search on windshield protection film. Madico has such a film available and it's called ClearPlex. Here are some other articles about it. Just maybe another alternative to look into.
