TLtrigirl-Its not insurance fraud....its legally my money I can do whatever I want with it. Lets say you get rear ended and insurance gives you a check for $900 for the rear bumper+labor+paint. You find a nice ronjon rear bumper in your color for $200....you can buy that and the $700 is yours.

I'll be surprised if your insurance will pay for DEALER glass. Have you even talked to them yet?

Not yet lol. Its possible they might try to put me with safelite. My Acura dealer said they just sell the glass which is odd. Didn't give me any other info.

There is nothing horrendous about it at all. We have $1,000 deductibles on both of our cars. The higher the deductible, the lower your insurance premiums are. We have not had to file a claim in 10 years and the money we have saved in that time with the higher deductible has more than offset the $1,000 the next time we will need to pay a deductible. If anything, you may want to call and raise your $250 deductible and see how much you will save.

its the fact that you are going in knowing full well that you are going to LIE to the insurance company about getting OEM glass and then go the cheap route through safelite (and possibly lower the value of your vehicle) just so you can pocket the money. its just wrong, but hey its your moral and ethical compass, do whatever.

Amazed at how much support and love there is for the insurance companies on this board after most of us have never made a claim anywhere near what we have paid cumulatively over the years to these insurance companies. Insurance companies are first in line to scam their customers by denying claims left and right or providing stupid stipulations to get out paying out. And when they do end up paying ... they raise your premiums. WTF
