window tintings

Anyone ever tint their cars? I was thinking about buying some pre-cut tints on ebay and try it myself.

I would highly recommend letting a professional do the job. It's well worth the money.

Isn't the hardest part cutting the tints? I'm not being cheap, just that I don't know if I can trust anyone out there.

eBay tint is probably not of the best quality

Doing it yourself (unless you've done this before) will likely turn out poorly. You'll spend $$$ for the eBay tint, then have to pay a pro anyway.

Have a pro do it right the first time.

I'm sure you can find a good shop that can tint your windows. Just ask a few members in NY and they'll help you out.

Just post in here:

I understand you don't trust anyone with your car, but trust us on this one. When I got my tints installed, I was there in the bay while the job was being done.

If you do it yourself, make sure you are getting quality tints.. I did my own tints a long time ago... I've done it before, and was able to make it look good. However, the quality of the tints that I was able to get myself were rather crappy, and turned purple over time...

OP just shop around for a good tint shop, that uses good quality tint (eg: Llumar). Any reputable tint shop will offer a warranty on their work in addition to the warranty from the manufacturer of the tint.

I know a guy on LI that could probably give you somewhat of a deal. He tinted my car and did an excellent job. He uses Llumar film. If you want his info shoot me a PM.

JMiller is right about the warranty. If you do it yourself, you've got no one to go back to except yourself.

Just do it right the first time and get it professionally installed. Plus, if it turns out bad, you will have to pay even more to have it taken off then have the shop put it on. I just got mine done at a tint shop and it came out very nicely, no complaints.

If you look at your rear doors (assuming you have a 3G TL), the smaller glass has rubber around the border. It was REALLY hard to shove the tint film between the glass and rubber. You're better off having it done by a pro.

I would def not do this myself.... if i had a p.o.s. chevy slobolt or sumthin i maybe would think about it. im sure you can find somewhere local. plus with professionals u get a life time warranty and a clean look because they have done it millions of times before.
