Window tint question

I have an appointment tomorrow to get my windows tinted. When quoting me a price ($279 for all 7) the guy at the shop told me that our generation of TL's are one of a relatively few cars where the manufacturer did not install felt along the rubber sill where the glass runs & that in order to do a proper install he needs to put some in place. Failure to do so inevitably results in scratching of the film as the windows run up & down. $90 labor charge to do all 4. Seems reasonable & on visual inspection it does appear there's no soft cloth where the glass meets the rubber - but - just seeking verification to make sure I'm being sold a line. Anyone?

Tint price seems a tad high but moleskin is definitely recommended

when we roll our windows down, stuff gets into our car, regardless if we want it or not.

this unwanted particles, like sand can fall and rest in places you dont want! like that rubber seal!

roll up the window and whatever grains of sand is sitting on that rubber seal will embed and scratch the tint!

i failed to implement moleskin(felt) on one window. I have a couple of faint vertical lines. faint, but its still there! and I dont want to pick at it, or else id probably would have to get the tint redone.
which i dont want to do, as the type and brand of tint i picked out is expensive. lol

My tints have scratches because of not having that.. Also i agree $279 is on the high side. $200 with lifetime warranty is average here in Chicago.

On my last TL, I never had moleskin installed and the tint shop that's been around for decades didn't recommend it either and I never got one single scratch.

its not if,its when.

tiny sand particles enter your car every time you roll down the window.

the TL doesnt come with a felt lining stock!

where do you think those tiny particles of sand land???

everywhere!

I'm looking at $420 for F1 Pinnacle at a local place. Probably going to do it soon.
