Question Window Tint and NAV problems

Has anyone installed tint on there windows?
I have read in the manual ( Navigation Manual page 3 "Accessorie precautions") that the metalic found in window tints can effect the performance of the Navigation system. The attenna
is located under the deck of the back window.
Are there good NON-Metalltic tints available ?

I believe some or all the tint films made by Huber Optic are ceramic based and not metal based and won't interfer with radio signals as much as the other types.

Correction: its Huper Optik

Do a search on the 2nd generation TL with Nav we had the same issues come up with our Nav systems. Some people would say they had problems others say they did not. WhenI got my tint installed almost 4yrs ago with my 2000TL with NAV the installer said the same exact thing. He told me a few Nav system BMWs at that time had problems. I had the JOHNSON FILM put in my car that was non metalic. I think most have some metalic in them but some have less than others & are still high quality. I have had no problems with my Nav in almost 4yrs. When Iam in the car the Nav is almost always on & it is correct.

Window tint & nav

Hi,

I just got my windows tinted today, and the owner of the shop - who by the way must be pretty smart by knowing this - stated that he used a different tint on the back window because of this exact problem. Make sure NOT to use a metallic tint on the back. Ask the tint guy, good ones should know the answer.

BTW, just got my TL yesterday for my wife. Lovin it!
