Deck Spoilers????????

My wife and I are anxiously awaiting the delivery of a new "04 TL NAVI in Anthracite/Ebony. There's been a lot of discussion regarding colors and we're glad to hear our choice has wide acceptance. Our current TL-S is Silver and that color is super popular but we really wanted something different.
Anyway, can we have a new thread here that deals with opinions on Spoilers? Our '02 TL-S really needed a spoiler because the car is so bland. However, on the '04, we spent a lot of time looking at both deck and wing spoilers on the dealer's lot and we just can't decide. We kinda don't think the car needs a spoiler but if we put one on, it would probably be the deck extension type. How about other's opinions?

I had a '97 Maxima before my current '04 TL. That car needed a spoiler to offset its "spanked loaf-of-bread posterior". I don't think the '04 TL needs this. I don't think either of the spoilers enhances the appearance of the car all that much, if any. I think that tiny lip spoiler is nothing more than a waste of money. I've seen a pic of the full spoiler on a black car (like mine) and it looked ok, but I still think the car looks better without one.

Rear spoiler...kinda "spoils" the look!

Regarding your question on the spoilers...personally if I had to get the spoiler it would be for the deck lid lip spoiler, but I personally do not think the car needs anything!

The more that you look at the car, the more you will realize that spoilers do nothing more than "spoil" the lines of the car!

Just my opinion!

I am picking up my Anthracite/Ebony (5AT with Navigation System) on Tuesday. I went to see the car in the back-lot at the deallership today with my wife and we are leaning towards not putting any spoiler on whatsoever. However, our salesperson
and sales manager offered the option to simply place an in-stock spoiler (wing-spoiler) on the vehicle on Monday to see if I wanted to add the option.

If I can remember to take my digital camera, I would be more than willing to take a few pictures so that you can see for yourself - given that you have ordered the same vehicle.

In all honesty, I agree that the lip-spoiler does not add that much and would probably consider only the wing spoiler. I have not been that impressed with the pictures of the wing-spoiler - but ..... when I was in Chicago on business about a month ago, I did see a silver 04' TL at a dealership with a wing-spoiler. Looked good. So .... I will see if I can get would a few pictures of what the Athracite will look like with the wing-spoiler and attempt to post on the thread Monday afternoon/evening.

The rear body lines are a wonderful BMW ripoff. They don't mess it up with a spoiler, neither should we. BMW guys shoot guys who put spoilers on them.

I'm getting a Silver/Ebony. I saw a silver TL at the dealer with the wing spoiler and actually thought it added a lot to the car.

Actually, the M package for the 3 Series coupe has a lip style spoiler on it. I almost added a lip spoiler to my car but after spending a bit of time looking at one with it on in the dealership I decided that it really added so little to the car for the money. I personally now think the car really doesn't need anything since it has a nice lip at the edge of the trunk. i haven't seen the wing spoiler so I'm not sure that would look.

What about the front and rear and side spoilers?

Are those totally uneccesary or do they help the look?

Or are splashguards (which don't let you add spilers) work better?

I`ve got the full Aero kit with the Lip Spoiler and I think the car looks sharp in Pearl White.

Just say no to spoilers. As the other guy said earlier, they can really spoil the look. I've had two Legends and two TLs and never liked the idea. Looks good on the Integras and of course the NSXs, but that's about it.

I won't get one, but that's just my opinion. I heard that the BMW M5 spoiler will fit just the same on the TL, but probably costs more.

I have Integra GSR, and the wing spoiler really made a difference. in the looks. Any pictures out there of the TL with the wing spoiler? I'd like to get an idea of what it looks like with/without.
Lip spoiler doesn't seem to do much for it.

I went to the local dealership recently and saw a couple of these accessories on the TL. The wing spoiler doesn't even have a LED light. It doesn't go with the sleek design of the car. The deck spoiler I felt was a nice accent to the car.

Now to the body kit, originally my order had the body kit. Upon seeing the body kit it was disappointing. The front kit looked nice, but had a poor fit. I saw two glaring gaps. The side and rear kit didn't look much different then the standard. I think it is a complete waste of money. Very disappointed with body kit.

I went with Splash Guards.. and Side Molding for protection (if you look around EVERY car seems to have some kind of side molding for protection nowadays).

I said NO to Spolilers.. the car looks fine without them!

SNM, did you get a chance to snap a few photos of the car? I'd love to see pics of this combo.

I too saw one with the wing spoiler installed at my local dealer. I had recently test driven the car and my wife wanted to go for a test drive since we were picking up her CL from service. She loved it too as I did. However, she noticed the spoiler created a blind spot or difficulty to see behind through the mirror. I noticed a glare of lights bouncing off the spoiler onto the back glass. As such I have changed my mind and will not get any spoilers on mine when it comes in. Just my 2 cents worth on the subject.

Hi folks -
I really want to thank every one for contributing to this thread. At the moment I can't seem to pin down my delivery date so the spoiler question is still just that.
SNM, I hope you took delivery on time. I would really appreciate it if you could shoot a few pictures of your Anthracite with spoiler. That might help with the decision.
I didn't tabulate the replies, but I got the impression that many people still feel the car doesn't need a spoiler. It will be interesting to see.

That's just sexy without the "spoil"er.

Hey wait, that's my car...
