Window Film/Tint Brands?
I am looking at window films/tints and have found the same few out there:
Sunguard
Solar Guard
Johnson
3M
Madico
Llumar
They all seem to have "lifetime" warranties. Any one have an idea which is better/best and why?
Thanks.

Diamond Tint Film without a doubt.
Their lifetime warranty is not only for fading/pealing etc., but also for accidental gouges/scratches and even if your window gets broken, they will re-tint the new glass. It is like having insurance on the tinting since the cost to re-tint is typically below most peoples deductible.

Johnson Films.
My tint company (7 cars for us so far) feels that this is the best performing. It is durable, looks great and is hard to scratch. The warrranty is good at ANY Johnson installer.

Got a price for the Formula 1 tint.
Pinnacle all the way around: $345
Pinnacle on back, Comfort on all other windows: $270
Only bad part is that the company will only tint as dark as legally allowed. I wanted 15% all the way around. The best they'll do is 30% front, 15% back.

i read in the manual not to use any tint that has metal in it or it will severley affect the GPS located beneath the rear glass.
I know the "titanium" tint has metallic fibers inside of it.
anyone actually notice a negative effect from this?

I have a picture of the 3m tint intsalled on my car. I got the darkest they make for the back windows, nothing yet up front (Davis police come down real hard on front tint). Car is dirty and not a great shot but the picture wasnt to just get the tint.

Metallic based tints interfere with radio signals needed for nav, radar detection and cellular.
Your radio antenna is printed on the inside surface of the glass. The tint goes over the radio antenna. The only thing between the antenna and outside is still the glass. Tinting has no effect on radio.
However the nav is not on the glass, so the tint film is between the nav antenna and outside the car. Similarly your radar detector and cellphone.
Metal is used in tints as they are not subject to fading (purpling) that the old dyes were notorious for.
Huper Optik Ceramic contains no metal, uses ceramic particles, and is radio wave transparent. I like the huper stuff.
Another issue is that metal based tints increase the radar reflectivity of your car and therefore allows speed radar to pick up your vehicle from a longer distance. Your tint may not be 'stealthy'

I didnt think covering up the backup light with tint would have been illegal...
Would have looked a lot better if it was covered completely.

A lot of places cut out around the brake light. I dont think he's saying that was illegal, just saying he went with legal grade tint all the way around the car, and you can see the difference by looking at the non-tinted part of the back window.

Does anyone know the darkest tint that 3M makes? I have an appt. for an install for 3M 20% all around this Saturday, but I really don't think it's going to be dark enough. This particular dealer said 20% was the darkest they made.
