yes, it will if you use a metallic tint... i THINK it is the ceramic tint that you can use that won't affect the navi.... do a search, i am 110% sure this has been discussed

I would not chance it. The ceramic tint is only a little more expensive and is not going to harm your tint.

I have 32% and it does not affect Navi. Metallic. Start a poll or something.

This subject is has been talked about on so many different posts. The manual says to use a ceramic film should you decide to tint your rear window as a metalized film will interfere with the navi. It seems that a number of folks have used metalized film with no ill consequences and there were some saying it screwed with it. You may luck out. All I can say is the choice is entirely up to you. If it does interfere with the navi/AM reception, you maybe SOL or just maybe, the shop you took it to will replace it.

While we're on the subject of tinting, you'll probably get your other windows tinted also. You probably have read about tint being scratched when lowering or raising your windows. Now comes the subject of "Moleskin". This is a self-adhesive piece of felt attached to the wiper blades mounted in the door. Some of the members have had their tint severely scratched when lowering or raising the windows and others encountered no problems. Ask the shop if they are aware of the scratching problem (front doors more so) and ask them about Moleskin. If he doesn't know what you're talking about, I would suggest another shop. Shops will install it (if they know what it is) or you can DIY. Just do a search and you'll find loads of info on both these topics.

No moleskin here, the shop said it was not necessary they have done a few TL's and none of them have had problems. If it does scratch I will let you guys know pronto.

All the information that I recieved indicates that a metallic based window tint film can affect the NAVI signal as well as the AM radio reception. Based on that information, I went with a Ceramic based tint film and have had no problems with either.

I went to a place in San Diego called Tint Devil. Everyone in SD highly recommended it. The guy there was pretty nice and he said 2 things that I thought were a bit different then what most people are saying.

1 - He said he has been doing tints for over 17 years and he never had a problem with it affecting the navigation system (even though navigation hasn't even been around for 17 years)

2 - When I said "mole-skin" he looked at me like I was crazy and he said he uses felt (i guess thats sort of like velvet) and his windows never scratch.

I also asked him about tinting everything but the windshield (because I know the 2 front windows are illegal in most states). He told me it was a fix-it ticket and he would only charge me $40 to take the tints off and $100 to re-do the tints again if I wanted to at a later time. He also said if I had a friend who was a cop, that he could just sign off on it. Anyway I don't really know if any of this is true or not.

"moleskin" is a trade name, mostly used in display cabinet industry.

as for metallized films affecting antenna stuff, it really depends on brand of film. thin films with little metal will affect antenna less than thicker films with lots of metal in it.
