Will dealship acknowledge shudder?

I've felt this shaking for a while now but never knew what it was until i saw IHC thread to replace the fuild and sensor. My question is since i have extended warranty will the dealership acknowledge shudder to be an issue and replace my tranny?

has anyone with warranty tried hitting up dealership?

thanks

Usually they will not. You have to understand, the level of knowledge of the "techs" these days is barely above the average non-car person. They read the codes the computer throws and replace the appropriate part. I can't even hold a conversation about the inner workings of an engine with them because they don't know enough to hold a conversation. The best mechanics I've seen today were the rednecks that knew engines inside and out before electronics were everywhere and then adapted to the new stuff.

With my mini rant out of the way, your best chance is to take them in the car with you and point it out everytime it happens. Otherwise they will say they can't reproduce the problem. Tell them that it's doing damage every time it shudders. They probably don't know why it shudders or how bad it is for the trans. No offense to the good techs we have on this site.

The other option is to come out of pocket. The swtiches make a huge difference but sometimes it requires both the swtiches and the Redline "racing" fluid to completly cure the shudder. Time is very important. Each time it shudders you're damaging the clutch packs and it's less and less likely that you can fix it without a rebuild. They should fix it, it is a real drivability issue that will lead to a failed trans.

I have redline shipped out today and the sensor should be coming within a week or so. Should I do 3x3 first or change sensor right away?

Thanks!!!!

Why not do all at the same time?

dealership wont touch it until it completely fails.

if you want a new tranny, drive it till it fails and hope you get a new tranny. If you want to save your tranny, do what was mentioned above. Personally, I would do the fluid and the switch replacement then take my chances with the dealership.

good luck.

I second that.. Change out the switches and change out the fluids ASAP... Mine has the regular Honda Z-1 but, I plan on changing my fluid more often like 1x3 every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. I am going to do the switch replacement at 75,000 miles. Correct me if I am wrong but, I think you can go longer on the redline fluid

I think that it depends on the Dealership that you take your ride to. I go to Crown Acura over here in the Tampa area... I just got my car back with a New tranny and they were able to detect the Shutter... Although I have an after market warranty thru mercury...

The tech that I talked to told me that the shuttering was due to the Internal torque converter starting to go bad... Maybe this was the case I don't know but I tried everything that other members had done and the problem only went away temporarily and returned after a few hundred miles...

I know you probably wont want to do it but... I would recommend going and having the dearler ship do a single 1x1 change on the fluid just for the record... this is what I did and let them know that I was experiencing the shuttering...

The warranty companies ask questions... Im friends with 2 of the service guys and the fact that I had the fluid change on there records was a good thing according to him...

I did the 3rd and 4th Pressure sensors and the Red line racing ATF w/ the tranny filter all at the same time (this was after I had the dealer ship do the 1x1)... mine was to far gone for this to help me... I hate cars was a big help!

So true! I brought my car in because my knock sensor wire was chewed up by rats. I did research on the code and it told me what was wrong.

I took it in, tech said "ok we will do a diagnostic run and see what the issue is"

Me: "I already purchased the replacement part, i just need it replaced"

Tech: "Oh how did you know?"

Me: "I googled the error code"

Tech: "Well, you are putting us out of the job here!"

Both: *Uncomfortable laugh*
