will the bumper yellow on WDP?

i currently have a 1996 maxima and its pearl white--with the yellowish bumper--will WDP do this as well?

i assume so due to it beinf plastic instead of metal. which leads to more yellow fears if i went with the ASPEC

my first color choice is now the WDP/Ebony that they will offer for 2006

may have to go SSM/Ebony is this will be a problem

when I went to the meet in MD, the first thing 2 people said was "why doesn't the bumper match the paint? It looks a tiny shade darker. This is apprently true of all or at least most WDP cars. Plastic jus doesn't hold the tone like metal does, or maybe a darker primer, who knows.

At any rate it probably won't yellow but it will look a tiny bit off.

Now if you will excuse me, my hard drive just began making a horrible whining and grinding noise, and I fear the worst.

Oh I should add... I love the color and the tiny difference doesn't bother me. WDP looks great.

My bumpers are slighty off too. I think I'm the only one that notices it. I took it to my local dealer, Weir Canyon Acura in SoCal. They were very understanding and said they would be willing to repaint it anytime during the warrenty period if it really bothers me. If it begins to yellow I intend to have it repainted. BTY, I saw the same thing on a Cadillac CTS, only worse.

You're right tzakiel and vupac1, best color on a TL. WDP looks great.

Whatever color you get you're still getting a great car

J, I'd really have Acura take a look at your bumper. it should definitely be under warranty. Your rear bumper really needs to be either repainted or replaced because the rear bumper was way off compared to the rest of the car. I found it quite interesting because the front bumper looked just fine. I wonder what happened?

Dunno. Have heard many WDP owners say the bumper thing is par for the course and acura says the material difference causes a slight color difference. To tell you the truth I never really noticed much until the meet when people brought it up.

I'm gonna give it some time, and just make sure I bring it up before warranty is up. Maybe wait till I have a little scratch or two

I think that is just another Acura Service BS excuse. You should definitely point out to them that the front bumper is made of the same material as the rear bumper, so why the difference? I would seriously bring this up before the warranty on your car expires, the sooner the better.

JP, actually i took a good look at my car today while taking those pics and the front bumper was noticably a hair of a shade darker than the body, as well.

here is one of a few threads where everyone basically agrees WDP bumpers ARE off and acura will repaint if you argue with them, but with possible mixed results. Frankly I don't believe they know how to match it exactly or otherwise they would... lol

This might shed some light... I have had the good fortune to scratch BOTH my metal body and a bumper area down to the primer and I can tell you that the body has a grey undercoating and the bumper/aero kit has a black undercoating. That might just be the shade difference right there.

Here is another very telling thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/anyone-want-my-sub-112884/

It's definitely a problem with white cars... someone in this thread says "it's a queston of confidence in your dealer to make the problem better rather than worse" and I think that's dead on. My dealer, no way Maybe if I had heard of a dealer that had EXCELLENT paint jobs I'd try it.

That could possibly be the cause (difference in material) but I am not sure. In skimming the thread you referred to in your previous post, it appeared that some people were successful in getting their bumpers repainted by the dealer, you might look into this as a no-cost option for you

it just worries me. will it be even worse with the ASPEC tacked on? i love the color, but i plan on keeping the car for 6-8 years/120,000+ miles.

my Maxima bumper has this same issue. i just dont want it getting progresively worse over time.

I supposedly have the problem, and I have the full aero kit. I LOVE my car right now... just get WDP, you'll love it. I might get it repainted if I have some time to kill at the dealer, but really, it's a great color and not such a big deal.

Besides you can always check before you sign to buy the car ont he actual car you are getting. Ask to see it against both full sunlight and dim dusk light, 1 lighting situation won't reveal color difference entirely. In my case it is only noticable in dim lighting like a cloudy evening.
