Why I bought a G instead of a TL...
So far I am happy with my G35x. No rattles, MP3 in-dash player is the best, ride is great, no problems... yet.
Anyway, for the guys that said coupe is the way to go in the G, yes I agree it is a great looking car and I would have bought it if I had a jeep to drive in the winter. The roads suck around here when it snows.
Speaking about the roads, they suck in the dry weather too. Potholes, bumps, etc. I will be courious to see if rattles develop because of the heavy abuse the suspension is taking.

The G35, on the other hands, appears as though it gets lower mileage - it has a larger tank (20 gallons) and requires more frequent fill ups. However, I haven't really done the exact math (maybe 12-18 MPG) since I drive it far less than the TL.

I owned a 300M, what a piece of shit...I'm sure it's in a cube by now and deservedly so. The Magnum is a rolling turd that rednecks use to take their trash to the dump. I can't believe this was even entered into a converstion of TLs and G35s.
As for the G35, to base your decision off all the bitching around here (AGAIN, mostly the 04s) is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I respect the G35, but not that line of logic.

I test drove a G35 sedan rwd 6MT, it was a lot of fun, just would have been a mess in snow.

280 hp or 298 hp.
TL vs. G35 - had both cars
I owned a 2003 G35 (2yrs ago when it just came out) and now drive a 2004 TL 6MT.
Personally, I think the G35 is better. I love the rear wheel drive, rear reclining seats (yes, REAR seats), lot more torque, louder BOSE stereo w/more thump, better handling and over-all better car. Infiniti service = top class!!! They really treat you good!!! Thums up for Beaverton Infiniti!!!!
The TL is nice and I get a lot better gas mileage (I like to get on it), more comfortable seats than G35, but I don't like the torque steer, also have squeaks and rattles. So far have 16k mi on my TL, no major problems besides some rattles and squeaks... Service has been good so far.
I am considering selling or trading in my TL for another G35. I might try the G35 coupe this time.

My choice between which car to buy (as soon as a "real world" job comes) is the g35 coupe and the TL. I've driven both and I love how both of the cars handle and take the abuse of my driving habits
The TL has a much nicer interior IMO, the nav blends in so nicely to the dash. I have an insider at a dealership and would be able to get the car for right around $35, so that would almost eliminate the difference in price between the 2 cars (the TL with A-Spec, of course).
So the decision comes down to the RWD vs FWD snow driving capability (living in the NE), passenger room, trunk space (have you seen the g35c's?! Tells you how to fit 2 golfbags in it
), and service. Has anyone from CT or NY bought a car from a dealership and had a really good experience with the service department? A huge advantage of the Infiniti is that I am good friends with the service manager, hence I know that I would be treated amazing, my car would be at the top of their list whenever in for service, and I wouldn't even have to go to the dealership - he would bring home a loaner the night before my service and take my car for me.
The good thing about not buying a car before I find a good job is that I don't know where in the US it will be. So if it ends up being somewhere that snow is not a problem for 4-5 months of the year, I'll have to reexamine my options. Obviously, if snow is a factor, the TL is my choice hands down. The g35x is NOT an option because as previously mentioned, it's not available in a 6spd. Not to mention that I'm 21 and the sedan just doesn't do it for me the same way the coupe or the TL does.
If my memories of driving through PA serve me right, I do believe that Bethlehem is on the Eastern side, so jackal, if you have any probs with the service dept, PM me and I'll let you know what dealership my friend is at. He just won best customer service out of all dealerships in the US, so you are more than likely to have a good experience there. Good luck with the G - I've always been a huge Infiniti fan.
