Why this forum is awesome

So I was picking up my girlfriend at the train station tonight and I went to open the trunk with the inside button release. Nothing...the trunk is not opening. Its dark and starting to rain, so I grab the fob and also nothing.....BUT my mind flashes back to an Acurazine post about the hidden trunk release lever in the back center console. So I opened it up, dug around, and found it. POP! Trunk opened! To make a long story short, I eventually realized that I hit the trunk release disable switch when I was getting something out of my glove box, and the remote not working was just a fluke.

I love this forum for all of the helpful hint, tips, and tricks that allow me to the get most out of my TL, thanks Acurazine members!

Hey uh

It probably didn't open due to the switch in the glovebox.

The switch in the glove box controls the trunk release button. You can turn it on/off for valet services.

Awesome recovery. Kinda scary not being able to get in the trunk. Those bodies aren't going to dump themselves in the river.

But with all-weather trunk mat it will keep the blood from soaking into the carpet.

Yep, this is an outstanding community. I'm finally picking up my new (used) '08 TL S tomorrow, and everything that I learned here helped me immensely to understand what to look for, and what to avoid. Thank you all!

I can say that this forum has saved me a ton of cash with all the DIY and helpful hints.

UNFORTUNATELY - This forum has cost me thousands on buying mods back in the day.

Yeh. The mod bug is still there but it has been kept dormant the last 6 years or so.

Anthracite, many of us have done the same thing. I disabled my trunk disable switch by hardwiring the SOB. Cut off the switch and connected the wires directly. Now the real trunk switch always works when I push the button.

Same here, I've saved several hundred dollars over the years just from learning how to change my cabin air filter.

I hope you guys all move over to the 5G forum with me when the TLX becomes available.

I've only had my '06 TL for a couple months but this forum has helped me fix numerous rattles, provided great advice for new tires and directed me toward an excellent deal on a trunk mat. Thanks everyone and keep up the good work!
