I think these ppl race anyone anywhere, just to kinda brag about how many races they've won. If they win, they'll flaunt it everywhere. If they lose, they'll just turn on a side street and never be seen from again.
BYW the Mazda3 is a bit more than a commuter car, I've heard the s handles pretty well.

american muscle? maybe old school...but the TL-S will spank the new charger R/T's Mustang GT's and GTO's....from experience...not saying they're slow...just not as fast as the "seem" to be...

 

I don't bother with the racing anymore either. Its tempting though when you see someone all up in your ass. I want to downshift and go everytime but I've learned to just change lanes and let them pass. Everyone goes through the racing phase. When I was 19 in my 92 gs-r bubbleback all I ever did was tailgate people and rev at every light. lol. I love my type-s but the EG hatch will always be my first love.

im from greenwich ct and all these kids come up to me in audi a4's all the time thinkin theeyre the shit.....................and hate to say it, but i gottt to put them in their places. a4's and most bmws around here are big, i cant help but show them who is boss lol! oh and on the highway my favorite move, is if there is someone coming up fast behind me illl gooo with them for a litttle bit and if my alentine goes off illl slow down lol and then theyll hit it and pass me, this has worked three times...love it!

 

That's what I'm talkin about. If you have a TL that's even slightly modded.....like just wheels or something, I always got some kid's attention in a ricer Civic. They probably dropped 1000s of mods to squeeze out 200hp and they want to prove something to anyone. I don't know what they are so insecure about, maybe when they grow up they can handle a TL too.

They'll try all their shenannigans. Typical example: They can't drive for crap because they're like 18 yrs old with barely 2 yrs of driving experience. They don't know how to drive and weave through traffic and they kill their brakes. I'm chillin with the cruise control on, all I see is a pair of brake lights weaving through traffic as I overtake them in between. They get pissed and take off in between car dangerously. I take my exit and at the red light up comes the Civic at high speed behind me huffin and puffin......lol!

Waste of gas for sure.

power to weight ratio? gear ratio? all those cars are fast...no doubt....but catch one of those things rolling around 50mph...they're not geared for on the go....just for the 1/4mile...sure ill lose in the 1/4 mile....but who's calculating the 1/4mile on the highway??

recently a 350Z tried to race me.....and there was a whole bunch of revving.....i did want to race him.....there goes the green and we took off leaving the whole bunch at the light......i was red-lining the car on all gears......there was some traffic up ahead, i smiled, grinned on the contrary and cut through the traffic while his ass was stuck back there.....lolz....

but what i love is this stock TL 258 horses took on a 350Z which is more like 300 horses....

DAMN i luv my car.....

Not for nothing but ive had a few races with G35 and 350Z's where they just cant touch me. Im talking about races where both cars are redlining gears.... i dont know if its the driver or the car...nor do I care =)

 

LOL in NY especially on norther blvd you always see some punk driving his integra or most recently the tC and really hardcore trying to tick you off at the light. I was driving my grandmother back home from Main street a few years ago when i first got the car, and this asian guy with bleached bangs gets on the opposing lane (aka opposite side of traffic) and tries to do what i think was a burn out...meanwhile i rolled my windows down and my grandmother just look at him like he was an idiot.



then....in st. louis (where i goto school) it's all these wacky ass mustangs and that weird looking chevy who's name escapes my mind....

i think the only best thing about driving out of state is that MO police always pull me over for no front license plate and i just say that we can do that in NY.


long story short. NY = riced out i dunno Whadafux that is civic or golf with huge fart can?
MO = unknown brand of chevy with ugly ground FX and rims way too big to be in a sedan pumping wacky songs...

I have to admit i pass mostly on the racing bit because of my tires! I got all black 20's with the 35series nitto's and them tires are not cheap!

 

i dunno BRO...i served this one Charger R/T several times in a row on the highway...and he couldn't touch me...and yes...he was trying...its hard NOT to hear his exhaust rumbling at redline...

I had my TL at 145 on the NY Throughway going upstate. I was racing a Mustang. I had to get out of it because he started to passing people on the solder because he kept getting boxed in.

 

Sounds like one of those driver deals. With the exception of maybe the Stang GT (stock - AT) or stock LS1 GTO (5.7L), the Hemi Chargers and LS2 GTOs will make short work of the TL-S...all other things being equal.

On the street/highway, anything could happen. At the track, you wont see too many TLs beating newer Stang GTs, Hemi Chargers or GTOs.

 

take off the S symbol and ppl wont mess with u anymore

 

I thought the hemi chargers were 14 second cars and the SRT-8s were high 12s low 13s? If I am correct, which I may or may not be, the TL type-S should have be able to take a hemi charger.

yeah..theres no way adding intake/exhaust is going to raise your gov., your speedo might just be off because your riding bigger rims...the tl/tl-s stops at 150mph...end of story...sorry to burst your bubble, i went up to 18's and it said i topped out at 155mph...with no other mods...but i know with stock 17's...150 is it...

 

Unless you had the speedo recalibrated, what you said makes no sense. IIRC, the governor is based off the same signal the speedomoter gets, so using larger rims might get you a couple MPH higher, but nothing that the speedo will show. What did you use to check your speed? A GPS-based data-loggin unit, or looking at the speedo?

of course it doesnt remove the governs but ur car has the ability to open up to get there faster....plus if the A/F is tweaked u can get to 160 no prob..... ive done it, Ive seen the needle hit 160mph so theres no bubble burst here dude. it says in spec from acura that the car redlines at 6800 but when i put it on my friends dyno at his shop the computer read out 7200 redline....explain that? plus it also depends if ur driving an auto or stick. I know honda has been extremely loose with governs on manual trannies through out the years.

 

i always get messed with here in socal.. not so much in norcal. nothin like mazda 3s though wtf? hahah.. stuff like wrx/chargers/mustangs/cts on the freeways here..

me and the wrx were just fuckin around pretty much.. i was driving normal speeds and he was just tailing me askin for it.. its like we were playing tag lol i'd run infront of him.. then he'd run infront of me.. fuckin around for a good 5 mins nonstop and then i looked in my rear and it looked like he was seriously half a foot from my bumper lol i changed lanes at like 100 and he did too not knowing i was gonna switch.. i was like "OSHIT" and swirved back into my original lane.. he rolled by knowin that was dangerous n put his hand up so it was all fun n games..

while we were fuckin around tho he made this TIGHT ass sweeze i dont think i coulda done in my sedan. down shifted real hard, i heard it/saw it.. saw the cloud of smoke come out of his exhaust.. if it was at night, that hard of a downshift woulda came out with flames for surreeee (he was modded up) dropped rims exhaust from what i saw..

cts was tryina fuck with me in light traffic but there were a lot of surrounding cars.. it was a regular cts, the v6 one :| sorry excuse for a v6 if you ask me.. didnt really bother but we were just tailin eachother too.. then a S500 rolled by wantin to fuck with the both of us and i just let it go lol

i gotta say tho, as far as HEAT goes in whips.. socals got more whips than norcal. another reason why i run into more ppl wanting to mess around here more often

I was practically invisible driving a 2G TL-S.... drove it for over a year and no challenges from strangers at all. To a stock Z28 (just Flowmasters) and in only 3 months I've been revved at by lifted trucks and rental cars. This old Ram tried to race me, I'm talking its so damn lifted I couldn't even see the driver while the truck was next to my car.

Most of the Mustangs know better and don't do anything except look over at me. With Terminators though, I know better.

 

tripnbeats. im there with u on that on my 6mt types s does 152 with 18s and redlines at 7 flat. i really wish it could be chiped tho. thats only 152 in 5th at like 6grand and it does it very timely. the man does make a lil more power to the ground tho my friend dynoyed his auto at 308 with spray tho:< and i still pulled a car on him in the man.
