I agree, the only time I ever use my CD player is if the battery in my iPod dies. I keep two burned DVD-A's in there to serve as a backup. But even then, I usually just switch it over to XM.

Portable CD players are definitely out. Even my mom and dad have iPods, but my mom still uses her CD player in her car when she isn't listening to XM.

I was never able to figure out how to burn a DVD-A = /

that makes a lot of sense.

Well I just found my tape collection that was in storage. So I'm kind of exicited to listen to them again in my car. I don't have a tape deck anywhere else now. Can't wait to listen to those crazy mix tapes I made back in the day!

The stereo sounds great, but functionally, it is stuck in the 1990s. I would trade the DVD/A for a player that can deal with MP3, etc.burned on DVD or CD. And no AUX port? WTF! My buddy's subaru has an aux port and a cig lighter in the console, you close the lid and it is all neatly tucked away all he does is whip on the AUX mode and he's playing is stuff.

This is probably the biggest complaint i have, and it is minor given the whole package.

I don't see why the tape player bothers some people so much. I see it as one of those things where if you have it and don't want to use it, no big deal, but if it's not there and you want or need it, you're out of luck—that is to say, having it doesn't harm anything except, apparently, for the egos of the immature.

I use mine occasionally if I want to play a mixed tape I made prior to the days of recordable CDs. Since I invariably used 90- or 100-minute tapes, the songs won't fit on a CD, and since I usually put a good deal of thought into the running order deleting some tracks to get down to 80 minutes isn't an option. I suppose if I really wanted to I could go to the nuisance of recording the tape onto multiple CDs, then converting those to DVD-Audio, but that's way more trouble than it's worth when I can just play the tape.

As far as the question from "MpegtwoTL" goes, a properly-recorded tape can generally sound a damn sight better than the low-fidelity lossy-compressed MP3 crap that's become popular with some people.

I dont use CD's or tapes. I use my ipod touch for all my audio. i think they should convert the CD player to a DVD player (for headrest monitors?) , and ditch the tape player and start puting in USB ports.

Honda Co can be an eccentric company. There's really no reason why the tape deck should have been in models up to 2008. Cassette tapes cannot be found anywhere except consignment or vintage shops. CDs are becoming quickly becoming a relic. Most upscale cars have iPod/mp3 adapters built in or hard drives.

I played CDs in my TL the first year or so. I have the iSimple adapter and I have never looked back. Great sound quality and I am able to control my iPod through my steering or radio dials.

It's only obsolete only if they stop selling new material on that medium.

I wish my TL had a laser disc player... OH YA BABY!

I have a tape adapter that I have used in previous cars, but having an AUX port I never used it in this car. I have also never tried to compare the two before. Are you guys sure that playing music through the tape adapter reproduces the sound better than through the AUX input?

If so, I'll try it sometime

Agreed. I installed my USASpec iPod Adapter more than 3 years ago and I'm pretty sure the same 6 CDs are sitting in the changer since then. No joke.
