Whose done the Switchblade key "mod?"

I've been wanting a switchblade key for SO LONG. I actually had one for my 03' Accord. I've been eying this mod for a while, but I wasn't willing to pay $190 bucks th Heeltoe.

BUT! I recently found a vendor on eBay selling it milled and cut for 135$ (link below) (btw I think its ridiculous that the 03 accord had the same aser cut key as the 07-08 TL and the 04 TL has the regular key)

I just need a small excuse to buy it! For those of you that have done this mod, do you get any better range with the keyless entry buttons? I know the current remote sometimes doesn't work until I'm like 10-15 feet away . I'd like a longer range!

So chime in PLEASE!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-08...ht_4912wt_1165
It is 125$+9$ shipping so 135. He says if you send in your key, he can take out the ship and install it in the switchlade so you don't have to worry about paying 50$+ at the dealer for programming. So for me I think the total will be 150$ for a cut and programmed key. I'll sacrifice my valet key!

Yeah my Rage on my TL-S isn't that great either. Have to be fairly close so that they OEM remote will open the car. I may just be used to my 2 mile radius 2 way pager alarm i had on my civic but yeah I have to be around 20-30 feet to open the car.

The seller also sells them for RSX and RDX. I you specify that you have a TL it will come with A trunk switch. The faceplate on there is from an RDX. I asked

07-08 had the switchblade. my 06 key fob sometimes seems like it was ZERO range. but i learned if you stick your remote in your neck you can increase the range of your fob.

just so you know, i did the switchblade key mod on my 06 accord for less than $20 total. I bought the key on ebay for $19.90 shipped, then put my key internals into the ebay key(therefore no programming required). i then took it to my dealer who cuts keys for free, and voila, everything done for < $20.

Buy a memory 1 key from ht for $119 and go to your dealer so they can cut it (free) then program it for $50ish. I'd say go with ht over ebay cause you know you'll be getting a quality oem product.

And i've also heard holding the fob under your will give you more range because it goes through your chin up to you hair. Your hair gives it more range... apprently. Its been proven.

dude my ebay switchblade key has never given me a single problem. i know other ppl who have it too and its held up just fine. quality is AT LEAST 90% of OEM quality. plus its so cheap even if it breaks(most likely not) you can get another one. heck you can get like 8 of them for the price you guys are talking about for a switchblade key.

I actually just pulled the trigger on this...looking forward to having it cut/programmed to start using it. Maybe it's a bad picture or it's just worn out, but the quality doesn't look OEM to me. No offense, at the price you paid it was a helluva deal. I opted for the HT route...I had actually once bought a key and of course since it wasn't milled, they couldn't cut it so I returned it. Was itching to have this...also, since I'm not sacrificing any of my originals...it gives me some piece of mind to know I will have another backup set of keys/fobs.

I remember you from drive accord dot net , haha. My old name was 7th6spd.

Anywho. I just purchased the eBay one. The eBay seller promises and provides 100% guarantee so I'll update with my results. its a total of about 40 bucks less than HeelToe

btw, the buttons are worn out because its from my accord oem key, however i do see what you mean, the quality of the plastic isn't quite OEM. thats why i said its only about 90%.

The switchblade keys have the same range as the regular remotes, it might be worth a shot to change the battery in your current key. My old remote broke and I got the Switchblade key at the start from a vendor here. He closed up shop and a year later I lost a key and decided to help folks here get them as well. Many appreciated it and others well didn't.

In either case, the ebay one looks pretty good milling wise but the buttons are wrong. The person is using and RDX or MDX key rather than the correct TL or TSX key with a trunk button. See if the vendor can sell the keys without the remote. If he can, you can buy the remotes for around 30 dollars from acura and simply snap it in to the switchblade key!

How is heeltoe charging 190 dollars, I thought it was 105 like mine!? The keys are much cheaper now, like 55 dollars each! Milling for me was expensive because I had to rent a machine and do it myself. If I was having a 1000 keys done by the shop, it would have been like a dollar a key, but since I could only manage like 30 an hour and only had 100 or so to do, it came out to like 15 dollars a key.

Either way, if you do want to save some money, you can buy the key for 55 dollars and according to heeltoe's site he mills them for around 60 dollars and then cutting the key is another 30. You can have a locksmith or dealer near you program your new key for a good price. Some small shops near me charge as little as 30 dollars!

That's very good information to have!
Quanaman...like I said, wasn't knocking you...nobody looks at something and says "wow, your keyfob looks 90% OEM"...it either looks it, or it doesn't.

That's my opinion, at least. I was hellbent on OEM or just keep my old key and fob.

Are heel toes oem remotes? Or replicas?

If I get an oem 07-08 remote where can I get the replacement key to fit my 04 for it?

They should be OEM keys that are milled down to fit into the key cylinder. That ebay one with the sideways blade is a replica and not OEM.

That is because you asked the wrong thing...if you just show up with a key and say "cut and program please" they will most often do it no questions asked. I get this call sometimes...

LOL. $190 SHIPPED, CUT, AND CHIP SWAPPED. The keys alone are $119. Yes a bit more than yours were, but definitely a successful product!

Actually we recently lowered the price a tad. Full service is $179 plus shipping.

Hey guys,

I finally got my eBay switchblade key in the mail the other day. I also got my car back from the shop yesterday and was able to program the remote myself.

The key looks and feels flawless. I paid a total of 148$ including everything.

This was the key, milled and cut to match one of my keys for 124.99+9$ shipping.

Then I paid an extra 15$ to have my chip removed from my valet key and installed into the switchblade so I wouldn't have to pay the dealer to program it.

The key is perfect; buttons work for everything and it starts the car no without issue.

Sure; some would say its a waste of 150 bucks, but I love it and it looks and feels amazing. end of story

Ah, that makes sense! Cutting out those immoblizers was a PITA. Actually, taking apart those little screws without damaging them was a even bigger PITA!
