who would win 2g tl-s vs 5.0 stang

my buddy bought a 5.0 1990 mustang convertible 5 speed manual and thinks hes can take me out hes got only a bbk cold air intake. what do you guys think? and should i race him from a dig or a roll?

my mods are:
F&F Type 2 dampers, CT Headers, ATLP Exhaust, 2009 TL SH-AWD 3.7L Intake Manifold,
Injen CAI/Fujita Filter, Unorthodox Racing Crank Pulley, P2R TB Spacer, P2R IM and TB Gaskets,
Mugen Cooling Mods, TB Coolant Bypass

and for now there are no backseats and no spare tire no jack and my 200lb system is all out of the car

It's a Mustang, of course you will lose.

You should take him easily. How does the 3.7 manifold feel?

lol its just he thinks because his cars a manual and im automatic that he has a advantage over me

but yeah the manifold gave the car life again i feel most of the power after 3500 rpms. but i know if i get the butterflies to work ill get more low end power also.. right now there stuck open so im losing low end

You will win, The only model heavier than his is the Convertible GT.

From a dig you will pass him, it just might take a while, from a roll you should walk him. I have a lot less mods than you and have beat similar mustangs.

I take pride on my car being very well maintained, maybe I have just lost less power than most people over the years, but since he just bought it, who knows how much power it's lost in his 20+ year life

You're friend is going to be very dissappointed. Now if the Stang in question was an LX 5.0 notchback with basic bolt-ons and gears, my answer would be very different.

Yeah those 5.0s get nasty fast with a few bolt ons.

Yes you should win. Luckily for you your friend has the heaviest 5.0 stang. He might get you from a dig through 1st gear but you will be pulling after that. From a roll you should hand it to him.

these aren't that quick, specially if he's only got an intake. You outta do great against him. Considering that it's a Mustang, it'll probably break off the line if he trys to launch it.

Agreed. It was amazing the difference from the heaviest (GT conv) to the LX notch. Those were usually the ones that were the most heavily modded too.

If the 2G TL-S is pretty close to the base '06, you will win for sure.

I ran my friend's 5 speed 5.0 conv and from a dig he would get his rear bumper just in front of my front bumper. By 45mph I was going past him. By 80mph it was ugly. My engine is bone stock and I have 100lbs of audio equipment so I'm actually slower than stock.

LOL says the guy with the glass tranny and a couple of FWD cars.

A Mustang is stock form will survive hard launches better than any Acura ever built. You can't begin to compare durability in a drag race especially once power levels start rising. They're not in the same class.

You should take the old 5.0. The new ('11) 5.0 would destroy nearly anybody posting this board (less the dude above me with the GN- sweat ride btw).
