Not even a short shifter?? or the slave cylinder mod??

im still stock..
considering the fact that I bought my TL 4 days ago.
most likely, i'll put the aspec lip kit, sounds, then mess with the exhaust a little.
Engine would probably stay stock. =D

My '08 Type S is all stock, all the way. I've added a few genuine Acura accessories to suit my personal preferences and to provide better protection to my baby...
  • Door visors
  • Body side moldings
  • all weather mats (from my '05 Accord, which fit perfectly...they just say "Accord" on them
  • I change out the stock wheels and tires in the winter to A/M wheels with Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter (gotta love the Tire Rack's "shipped to your door, ready to install" system!)
I got the Type S so I wouldn't feel the need to mod with so many factory toys installed.

Bought a TL to avoid having to mod anything - its a pretty great daily driver (20K+ per year) in bone stock form. I was going to hard-wire in the radar-detector last year and then chickened out when I thought about messing with the electrical system - I save all of my customization for my honda ATV !

Yeah OP I'm in the same boat - poor college kid who emptied his savings on this car.

I plan on using my tax refund on tint (thank you Uncle Sam), and tomorrow I plan on clearing out my headlights, which looks gorgeous in my opinion. Check out the DIY! Oh and I put a sub/amp in too.

I agree that I probably would've modded my TL more if it were a 6MT. The 5AT is nice but it felt like even with a full bolt-on setup it wouldn't make enough power to be worth it. The TL-S is another story.

I wouldn't hesitate to slap a set of nice lightweight rims and sticky tires on any decent car, though.

The TL-S is a very capable car in stock form. But I always tend to personalize my vehicles so I couldn't resist getting wheels, tires and suspension...tint out the windows to a reasonable level.
But when I consider a mod, I always assess whether or not the mod will adversely affect the car's performance or looks (to my eye). Personally, I wouldn't consider a radical drop or crazy offset wheel because it would negatively affect the car's ride and handling & performance characteristics. Nor would I consider pimping out my TL with VIP curtains because my Uncle had curtains in his VW Camper Van....kinda looks .

C'mon, I have to keed the VIP guys!

My TL-S just turned two years old and just clicked over 15,000miles today. Minor mods of tint, Stone-X in key spots, and splurged on a carbon fiber roof spoiler, house-hold six will not allow much more. As a Dad of five, my money goes to taking care of their needs. I am Blessed to have a car of this type to drive daily to work!

Nope, nothing. I actually like the shifter quite a lot. I think it fits the car and looks fine the way it is. Plus it fits my hand very nicely. By slave cylinder, might you be referring to the clutch engagement delay valve?

2004 Acura TL STOCK (Except for 12" Subwoofer Sealed Enclosure in the trunk)
To be honest, I've been trying to get some mods on my car:
AEM CAI (Can't afford atm.)
Tinted (Decided not to because of police issues)

Yeah, I have been reading on mods of removing mid muffler and resonator, but I think I'm just going to wait after winter season is done. It's just that money is such an issue....

My TL is stock besides window tint. I don't have any plans to mod it either. I love it the way it is.

Mine is stock because I got it about 10 days ago. Right now I am mainly focusing on getting very comfortable with the manual no matter where I go since this is my first stick shift ever. And after that I want to get tint and add some factoroy accessries such as spoiler, mud guards, door moldings, etc.

I used to spend a lot of money modding my previous car but after a while I just got sick of them and I ended up getting rid of them. No offense to any modders out there, but that's just how I am.

I really wasn't going to mod my TL when I was looking for one. If I wanted to mod that bad, I probably would have spent less on the car by going for an older model with more miles.

The only thing I might consider is intake and exhaust....it has to be a lot more fun with the manual.

I'm glad to see that a few share the same feelings that I do. If I had the moola, I'd mod this thing out the a**. lol. But I'll stay pretty basic and just toss in a sub/amp and be straight with it.

Two Things:
- I can't seem to adjust the seat to "fit" me properly...lol I adjust it every time I get in the car.

- Can I directly drop in a replacement sub in place of the factory sub? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

1. I usually adjust my seat so that the back of the cushion is all the way down and I raise the front of the cushion up a bit for thigh support. With the brake pedal pressed all the way down there is a slight bend in my knee so that during hard braking I have good control over the pedal pressure. I can hang my left wrist over the top of the steering wheel without leaning forward from my seat (the backs of your shoulders might not touch the seat perfectly but as long as you're not "reaching" for the top of the steering wheel, it should be OK. See if that might help you find a comfortable position.

2. AFAIK it's not worth it to drop a sub in there because there isn't enough power going from the stock headunit to sufficiently power any decent aftermarket sub. You'll probably want to ask the guys in the audio section.

1) Hmm, I'll see it if it works! Thanks!

2) That's what I was thinking, I thought I had read that somewhere before. lol

Hmm, maybe 2 10's or 2 12's, or a maybe a single 10 or 12? Lol decisions.

*Another very random thought; I've become quite fond of IS-350's lately. lol Anyone here ever drove one? If so, how would you describe it in comparison to the TL?

IS350? The engine is very powerful, but the steering feel pales in comparison with the TLs (or my A3 for that matter). It feels artificially light and indirect. Suspension is fairly soft. The leather feels great, though - very soft. Interior quality is arguably better than the TL's (there weren't any rattles). Rear seat room is non-existent even if the driver or passenger is average height; I'm about 5' 9" and it feels quite cramped in the back. I wouldn't buy one.

Hmm, I'm a solid 6'1 at almost 200lbs and plan to keep putting on weight so the interior cramp would definitely be a big issue for me. Sucks, I really liked the car. As far as the steering feel, if it's anything like the ES350, I actually prefer that for some reason. So light, like you're on a cloud or something. no homo lol

08 TL-S, mainly stock except tint, and an after market alarm w/remote start...really would like a-spec drop, and a-spec sparkle silver wheels
prefer to keep it mostly Acura, although i-pod intergration and a sub and amp would be really nice!!
owned and bought TL-S new a year ago Aug.

My week-old '06 TL is completely stock. I would love to clear the headlights and maybe do the window roll-up mod (probably in a warmer season--now isn't necessary).. but other than that I'm completely happy with my TL

Still stock till its paid...
Cant wait for rims, tint, as many LED's as my circuits can handle, Ram air with Exhaust, 2 12's, im sure ill think of other little mods.

I refuse to lower it since i had an Accord with 8 grand into it and hated the fact of not being able to go where i wanted. Just in case there are speed bumps, rough roads... not to mention changing rubbers like im a tire shop and searching for inground hoists just to lift the car... plus 3 sets of cracked underglow (damn those mechanics)

That just sums up why I'm stock. lol Except I've got $0, literally, to my name now.

*Didn't want to start a new thread for a simple question;
How come I can put my ipod-adapter (tape-deck) in the MDX and turn the ipod to full volume with no problem but in the TL I get massive amounts of distortion once the ipod volume is above 3/4?

Haha. For some reason that made me chuckle. Maybe it's because it's still early and I'm too loopy to pay attention in my political theory class.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I scored my TL at the end of September and I haven't touched the car yet. Besides the interior LEDs and license plate lights, I don't plan to do anything to it.

I just just install my WeatherTech mats in yesterday, which look way sharp, but the car is more than enough for my needs (you know, being a college student and pimpin the ladies when you roll in a black TL...)
