White Diamond Pearl or Alabaster Silver Metallic?

After years of dreaming and countless hours lurking on the boards I am finally ready to order a TL! Woohoo! I'm going to the dealer tomorrow afternoon. It has come down to the wire and I still can't make up my mind. I've gone back and forth between silver and white a half dozen times.

Any advice? Is there anything you guys can tell me that is good or bad about either colour from your experiences?

The interior will be ebony for sure regardless of the exterior colour.

Any tips or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rashid

That is a subjective question that you and only can answer. However, I have mine in WDP because I like the contrast between the black trim/tires and the white pearl....classy looking IMHO

I perfer Satin Silver Metallic, but since you can't get that anymore.......I would say WDP. I'm just not a fan of the Alabaster Silver Metallic

my wife and i bought alabaster silver...never even considered WDP...we love the look of the silver! i can't stop looking back at our TL after i park it...dirt shows more on white, of course, so that's one reason i didn't even think about getting white as a color...personally, the silver shows off the aerodynamics of the car better...white kinda fades out and black is just black, so you don't see the lines of the car as much....if any of that matters to you, then hopefully this helps....but like mentioned above, it's ultimately your preference...

The silver is a little too light for my taste. Between the two I would go for white.

Problems with the WDP from a WDP owner...will get dirtier quicker than any other color (maybe tied with the NBP) and the bumpers are notorious for not matching the rest of the car...although I was lucky enough to convince my service manager to repaint it for free...most people are not so lucky.
On the bright side-even though it'll get dirtier quicker...no other TL looks as nice right after a wash and wax IMO

I've got a ASM, and normally don't care for white cars. But I must say that the WDP is a very nice color. I saw a WDP/ebony today and thought it looked very sharp. Of course I also love the ASM/ebony which is what I have. My last car was a Black on black Volvo s80, my favorite combo, but I can't deal with the scratches that the black will get.

I went with the WDP as my wife feels any ASM or silver car just looks like unpainted a metal body and the TL was purchased for her, so to make her happy, you know what I did, WDP!

Everyone and their mother has either Silver or white. Be a little more original man, especially if you are going to do mods to it i.e. Rims body kit etc.. Dont get me wrong the WDP looks clean and classy as can be, but look around on this site or any other TL site. Everyone has either the WDP or Silver. They all look the same or at least very similar. I have the Abyss Blue with 18" Enkei DM5's It looks sweet and there is not another Blue TL around here not to mention one with mods done. I would recomend the Crimson color, not sure what the official name is but put some satin finish 18's or 19's with a polished lip on that and it would be sick looking. Step out of the box. But if you have to have one of those two the White is def. the better of the two. Sorry no pics of it yet, new to this site, but I will get them up soon. I think you will be suprised how well the Blue looks

Another vote for WDP. I think the TL shows itself best with this color.

Thanks so much for the input, tips and opinions are much appreciated.

Oh man, I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight. I should just drive to London tonight and camp out in front of the dealer. We don't have a dealership in my city so I have to drive almost 2 hours.

Any members from Windsor or London Ontario Canada? I'm actually going with my best friend tomorrow and we're each getting one so maybe we can start a little club if there isn't one already. I'm giddy. Oh man.

I'm getting an 06 auto with navi. I would love the body kit but it's too much. I remember seeing a post on here about it being offerred for $800US for the whole kit. If that is available somewhere I will be all over that.

The dealership got WDP on ebony leather with navi in 2 days ago. So I guess I will be able to look to see if the bumpers match the rest of the car. Thanks for the advice, I wouldn't have known to look without your help.

Anything else I should be looking for in general?

I had my heart set on silver from the start. That being said, white gave silver a real run for it's money. I really did not want a black interior, but I do not like the grey as much in the silver as I do in the white. Black looks great in either, but so hot. I REALLY liked the camel interior on the red, but with the black and the woodgrain, there were WAY too many colors for my taste. Also think about exterior contrast as well. If I lived in a state where dark tinting was legal, I would have bought WDP, tinted the windows as dark as allowed by law and then cleared and blacked the head / tail lights and indicators. As it is, I really like the bright red tails against my silver.

Talking

Come on dude, this decision is REALLY EASY...its either WDP or ASM huh? Well I'd definately say that the no brainer choice to your question is to get

ROYAL BLUE PEARL!!!!!

hehe that's what I have....but seriously tho:

few things to consider
#1 - WHERE DO YOU LIVE, does it snow?
#2 - white gets too dirty, if you live in snowy areas, go with silver
if you live in southern, no snow areas, go with white...white is VERY classy, looks hot, but gets dirty quickly...

if all else fails, get the hottest color that the 'Ac comes in, and that's Royal Blue Pearl not to mention from what I'm told by Acura gods, it is the color that's fewest in production by 'Ac for 05-06 production years...I haven't confirmed this info, only what I hear

good luck

DEFINATELY AGREE - hot colors but everyone and their mother has a TL and everyone and their mother who owns a TL has it in either WHITE, SILVER or BLACK...oh wait and anthracite too

great colors but I definately say go with the Blue, which is no longer the Abyss Blue Pearl, its now the ROYAL BLUE PEARL as shown in my avatar.

WHITE if you're gonna mod your car (body kit/wheels, etc...).
SILVER if you're leaving it stock.

WDP!

This past Sunday I spent 7 hours detailing my car; inside and out. And after I was finished...I sat back...looking at the car and I said to my b/f..., "You know...as much as I didn't care for this color when I got it...the more I wax it...the more beautiful it becomes!" My car is as smooth as a babies behind and as reflecting like as a mirror right now.

But the nevertheless...it is a bitch to keep clean...no doubt about it.

Just to be on the safe side...check the front AND rear bumpers....look at them carefully in good lighting, take it for a test drive and then look at it again.
The car tends to look pretty ok right after a wash, but becomes more noticeable soon after.

Like I said in another thread, white goes too fast and gets you laid too often. You dont want that. Go for silver.

serious, I will give the silver one thing - it is the EASIEST color to maintain. Damn color never looks dirty and its also harder to see scratches. But it's really all about personal preferences. If you do go for white, make sure the bumpers match color with the body as white is the hardest to color match. And one other reason I'd recommend Silver, you cant have white. Its mine. MINE.

Well to be honest I LOVE the WDP with ebony interior.......it might be harder to keep clean, and white is the hardest to get a mirror shine from, but it looks very very good.............but I myself am a silver person........SSM to be exact, here is something to make your decision harder...........

Seriously though, they are both great choices, you will enjoy the TL in any color.

Similar to the NYPD and the LAPD, the little known WPD, patrols acurazine coercing and enforcing all things White Diamond Pearl related.

To the OP, WDP with ebony interior is one of the hardest combinations to find in some areas. Even more rare with 6MT than 5AT. Silver cars are too common IMO, so if you can get a hold of WDP with Ebony, then go for it!

Case in point, which color catches your eye?

Good luck with your decision. Its your personal preference. Can't go wrong with a TL, no matter what color.

It only catches his eye because its 4x4ing so much higher then the other cars............. I personally think the SSM with the smoked fronts sticks out.
