Talking Whew! Almost had two rattles!

Went to lunch today and was horrified to hear two separate squeaks/rattles ... one in the area of the glove compartment and the other in my driver's side window or door panel. And I have only 160 miles on my new '06 TL.

So I says to myself - well, I guess all the stories about rattles are true.

Then I realized my wife had a styrofoam container in the passenger floorboard. When I had her pick that up, the squeaky rattle over there stopped immediately.

So that left the driver's side door panel. A I drove along, I sensed that the little buzzy rattle seemed to be coming from the area of my Escort radar detector on top of the dash. WTF? So I put my hand on the ol' 8500, and voila - the rattle stopped. It was the buttons buzzing in the housing of the detector. Geez.

The upshot is that I don't have any rattles after all. At least not yet.

And here's hoping you never develop them. It took about 12k miles before my first rattle by the driver's side view mirror started. Now I just need to find the thread regarding this particular rattle.

I had that happen with a foam take-out food container once when I decided not to put it in the trunk.
Same thing happens when you put loose CD boxes that move in the door pockets-- it sounds like a rattle, but is easily remedied. Also had my sun visor loose and clicking against the clip for a couple of days, which worried me before I found that the visor was unclipped.
Otherwise my TL is rattle free too, so far, going on 16 months.
