Lightbulb Where to purchase '08 TL interior vinyl or leather raw material

Does anyone know of a good source or location to purchase '08 TL interior vinyl or leather material? I need to purchase some to wrap a few things and want it to match the interior... The color I have is "Light Cream Ivory" YR240L.

Searched the web to no avail, maybe somebody on here owns an upholstery shop and direct me to their supplier, etc...

Thanks,
08_TL

You would probably be better off just buying new, OEM headrests. I'm sure you can pick them up in the BM, Ebay, or AcuraOEMparts.com.

The Acura leather comes pre-built from the factory, so your best bet is to use a local fabric shop that specializes in automotive applications.

The headrests I would simply buy new unless you're a closet seamstress with a stupid powerful sewing machine. The door trim is easy enough, that section can be independently removed from the door, the leather torn off, and new leather installed. I would recommend 1/16" foam backer for the door...shame they didn't do that already.

Honda sells leather patches in different size & colors in both regular and perforated. They are listed in the parts section of Hondas, but I'm not seeing them in the Acuras. Give Acura a call and ask about it. For my wife's 04 Pilot, the patches are at the bottom of the following link...

my rear seat is getting repaired with the interior warranty. I can ask where hes getting his replacement material from as soon as it gets squared away. someday

honestly, I have no idea why its taking so long. acura is dragging feet cuttin a check. I figured it would be easier for them to just send me a new back seat

Tried this, the local upholstery guy I've used before seems to not be able to locate a decent color/grain match...

Been searching BM, and eBay for months, finally found a black set on eBay and now just need them reupholstered.... OEM headrest are a mere $500, trying to keep it under $200....

Again, $500 for OEM... To much $$$ IMO, should be able to reupholster the black ones in leather or vinyl for less... Just need to find the material. Local upholstery guy is not having good luck locating the material...

Do they have leather that is color matched to the TL? I'll have to pm or e-mail them.

They have something for the 04'-06' TL, when I called they said it wouldn't "work" for my '08 TL, couldn't give me a certain reason, just that it wouldn't be the same...

Please do find out if they can sell a piece, or where they obtain theirs. I would appreciate it.

Has anybody had success or luck ordering vinyl or leather material to match the interior???

ok, talked with the shop today. he got my replacement fabric from a place called Detroit Auto, in of all places, Detriot, lol. it is 100% oem fabric. apparently its a bitch to locate as your finding out. he said this place only sells to wholesalers. so youll have to hit up your local upholestry shop and buddy up with the owners. good luck man.

Cool, thanks... Having a hard time finding the "Detroit Auto", can you bug him for me and try to find out two things? The contact info for Detroit Auto and what specific brand or part# he uses for the TL?

Thanks,

Yeah, that is the company that publishes the yearly "Detroit Book" it is supposed to have every car made in North America's interior matches in leather, vinyl, or cloth depending on your specific vehicle.... However, magically they only have items for the Honda's and not Acura's. Also, they only have cloth and no vinyl or leather....

so took my seat in today and the replacement fabric didnt match. not the color, not the perforation. he said he knew the color would be off and he would have to dye it to match, but the perforation was off too. he was really specific on the measurements of the holes and what he got was still too close together.

after talking with him for a few he told me he wasnt able to find a direct replacement. hes going to take a closer look at the seat tomorrow and call me with some options.

either way, Im sorry for the misleading info. his words were misconstrued by the females in his office about the fabric being "OEM fabric replacement". this obviously wasnt the case.
