My local Honda indie mechanic tells me come back and change my ATF every 15k. I use the Honda ATF but tempted to switch to the Redline.

So roughly every 2-3 oil changes.

I've been doing the 1x3 about once a year. Using Honda DW-1.

i do it every other oil change, a 1x3...so roughly every 15k miles or so.

not taking any chances with these glass transmissions. the $30 is worth it for piece of mind.

Assuming you are starting off with clean fluid, every 15K is about right for a drain and fill. It's way better doing frequent partial fluid exchanges over less frequent exchanges of all the fluid. If you notice a difference in the way the transmission acts after a drain and fill, you're not doing it frequently enough or just crazy.

I just do 1x3 exchange every year. This train of thought is better than waiting 50-60k.

Do it each time you drive it.

Wow, I feel like a Derp now. I seriously need to do this soon. Got the car last year with 35k and just hit 80k with no ATF change

Every 35k miles or 1 year.

It also depends on the fluid used. Redline/Amsoil should have a longer changing interval then Z1/DW-1.

I'm sitting on about 40,000 miles on the Redline D4 and it still shifts like the day I did the 3X3.

I am however going to replace the switches and do another 3X3 in the next 3000 miles. The car is now over 106,000 miles and needs the maintenance.

Why is that? I'd rather have that peace of mind to go ahead and do partial drain/refill of fresh fluid than wait til its very dark.

I want to protect my tranny from any wear.

I go every 20K ish or 3 oil changes. I do the ATF after I change the engine oil since the car is on ramps and the same drain pan is out. I'll be doing the ATF next oil change at around 58k miles. I'll be interested in checking the magnet this next time since I had Redline Type-F in the system for 20k miles- hopefully I'll see less wear. I took pictures the last change with a paper towel smear of the wear to compare against this next time.

Nothing wrong with changing more frequent- just not sure if it really will help if you're also not changing those sensors.
