When to change coolant?

I just changed the coolant in my wife's 06 Altima for the first time as it already had 70k on it. This made me wonder if I'm waiting too long to do it. I currently have 58k in my 06 TL and was wondering if it's necessary to change it now, or wait a little longer. The concern is that I live in Houston and it's getting really hot right now (high 90's). When does everybody change theirs?

I changed mine at 33 thousand but was changing the thermostat so i did that as well. If i was you i would do it. But how concerned you should be, well not much i would say but its always a good thing to do it.

Coolant replacement is the "5" indicator on the Maintenance Minder, but it might be best at the "4" timing belt change, when the water pump is often concurrently replaced as a preventative measure.

as I was told by numerous folks and mechanics, it should be replaced every 7 years at a MAX and every 5 at a minimum since the cooling system can rust/turn acidic and cause a ton of issues. I got my coolant changed with the 105K Service since it was 7 years and while I was at it, I got a new thermostat as well.

Be sure that the coolant change involves draining from the back of the motor block! A bit of sand and stuff will come out of it from the casting process for the motor block.
