Wheels upgrade, need advices.

Just hit 600 miles on my TL, Im pretty satisfied with this car in every way except for the stock Turanza tires, which many of you have already notice about the vibrations problem. I figure it's time for the first upgrade.

I am thinking to go with a set of 19x8.5 with +40 offset, tire size would be 255/35/19. The reason for going with wider tires is to maintain the ride quality, better rim protection and larger contact surface. Somebody on this board is using 245/35/19, but it makes the ride harsh and bumpy.

Would this setup fit without rubbing? Please advise.

Don't do it, even if it'll fit without rubbing. For the simple reason that you'll have to buy gourmet 19" tires for your car. There are significantly fewer choices in 19" tires than in 18" or 17". Furthermore, you're restricted to the highest performance tires which last about 20K miles at most. So, at $250/tire, you're looking at $1000/set maybe once every year. Say you own your car for 6 years, that's $6K in tires! Stick with a nice set of lightweight 17" or 18"ers.

Thanks for your suggestion. You've pointed out something I wasn't awared of, guess I'll stay with a set of 18s.

Now for the 18s, it will be 18x9 with +44 offset, tire size 265/35/18. Will this setup be ideal for better ride quality and without rubbing issue?
