Are wheel locks ENOUGH?

I was wondering what the forums thoughts on adding auxiliary security systems to your ride is? I was considering adding a tilt sensor and aux alarm to make sure any theives are kept well at bay.

BUT...as they saying goes..."If they want it bad enough..."

SO, what do you guys think? Wheel locks enough or add a secondary system?

I never did add wheel locks or additional alarm sensors-- I figured comprehensive insurance would fix my [stock] TL if thieves damage it.

as will Y. stated...if you're stock...meh.

but you do have some cool upgrades going on.
I really dont think that thieves are that brazen to steal wheels during the day. but who knows.

I've always seen thieves take things at night.

This and this.

I think you're right, Dave...that just kind of asserted the matter. Looks like the sensor's going in.

Alarm/smartstart was the first mod I did on the TL.

I have wheel locks on my curbed stock rims on my car, which is parked in the garage every night. Its one of those things- better safe than sorry. I wouldn't bother with the alarm system though. If they're going to try to take the wheels off with locks on them, then they're going to take the wheels off.

I don't bother. If someone wants your wheels, they'll get your wheels or they'll **** shit up in the process.

Viper 5901 alarm/remote start was the 1st thing I got for my TL. & Wheel locks came right when the tires got mounted onto the wheels & onto the car. Now I'm looking into the 507M digital tilt motion sensor next .

A video I found on youtube of the digital tilt motion sensor.

And what about the part where 4 men with 4 floor jacks on each corner lift the car? Tilt isn't the best variable to set off an alarm.

^my car is so low, I'm sure the tilt sensor will set my alarm off. You can't even fit a finger between my tire & fender, zero wheel gap .

If they want it they will get it or hopefully get caught trying. Otherwise that's what insurance is for.
And yes the trouble is what the F up trying to get the stuff. That pisses me of more so.

the only good point to have an alarm and wheels locks is to slow those fuckers down in their process and hopefully gives more time to be caught having more noise be mad

Dont do the wheel locks they are easy to get past. The thieves buy cans of liquid nitrogen from the store, like the wart remover stuff, and then freeze the lock and shatter it. Easy breezy.

up in here not reading shit, but there is no such thing as an antitheft anything.

there are only theft deterrents.

Ive had a couple scenarios in the past such as losing my wheel lock key or buying a new car that didnt come with the key, and this experience taught me that wheel locks dont do much to deter theft.

All you need is a socket that is slightly too small, and a hammer, and that is your new key.
