What's your Favortie Gasoline Brand? TL poll
I'm receiving shipment of my 04 TL tonite and this is my first new car and the first car that i've owned that needs super fuel. So i wanted to know what is your guys opinion on where to pump your fuel.
Does it matter and if it does.....where do you go and why.

Since 1988 and my first car, I've never pumped anything other than Exxon. Now I'm on my 3rd car with this '04 TL, and I go out of my way to find an Exxon sometimes. I have no idea why.

Since adding my 94 Legend requiring premium fuel into my garage, in the past decade, I always use AMOCO 93, EXXON 93, SUNOCO 93/94, and MOBIL 93, except sometimes in Canada I then used ESSO 92/SHELL 91.
But, EXXON 93 is my routine choice.
Remember, your local stations may not have all the brands we're talking about here...

Mobil, Texaco & Exxon
Don't forget that Amoco is now owned by BP (British Petroleum) which is owned by the British, and is not American.
Aside from wanting to support American jobs and firms, Britain, while one of our current allies, still occupies Northern Ireland and discriminates against the Irish in their own land. It is much the same way that the South African government discriminated against Blacks. Therefore I make a political statement as well as buy American each and every tank full.

Fuel Brand of choice
I have used Costco distributed fuel in my cars for the past four years. They use the top five brands available and great prices. My TL runs great on the 91. Just my $.02

Just a heads up, but in North Florida (and I assume everywhere else) all fuel comes from the same place no matter what the name brand... Sorry to burst some bubbles of loyal fans of your favorite petro.... mid-grade works just fine in the TL (per dealer) and I have run both for mutiple tanks and there appears to be no difference...
but do as you wish...

If you mean that it is all coming from a regional refinery then I would agree, but as stated above different oil companies do have different ownership, both foreign and domestic.

ARCO.
The reason being that I'm in SoCal, and ARCO run the refinery down here.
The simple rule to buying gas is buy gas from a cheap, but high-traffic area - usually near the freeway. That way you always get fresh gas, and are less likely to get sediment.

I wonder if this car knows the difference of more octane. 11 to one compression. 6800 rpm. I wonder.
My S2000 sounded different before I left the station. The 530 doesn't know difference.
Has anyone tried it?

I've always been a fan of Mobil or Sunoco.

Sunoco 94 Octane is great if you can still find it.
BP is no longer BRITISH Petroleum.. It is now BEYOND Petroleum.
All our Texacos changed to Shells
One of our Amacos turned to BP like it should the other became a Chevron!
I like Chevron super gas...
I use mainly Mobil and Exxon....
Will NOT use Texaco or Amoco.. never got good performance with them

Also, depending on altitude and climate and altitude mid-grade may work well for you. However, it will not be the same for all owners.
Be carefull not to simplify things too much.

In the Seattle area it will be Chevron then Texaco (if you can still find one), and then Shell. You could ask your service manager what they recommend. Around here they will all say Chevron hands down.

Mobil/Exxon 'cause of FOB and availability in the East coast. Nevertheless, i'm a rate whore and if Hess/Sunoco is available and usually cheaper on the road, i'll use them.
btw, Chase Manhanttan (called the PerfectCard)has a creditcard that gives you 3% off (i believe 6% intro cashback) for all your gasoline purchases; 1% all others.

I always use Chevron 91 octane in everything, the difference in cost is minimal.
I haven't used Arco since late 80's--never again.
I did a stint in contamination drilling (taking core samples and checking the groundwater tables for contamination in the summer of 1986), and ARCO seems to of had the worst operating standards a gas station could have in this region. I doubt it ranks higher than Thrifty gas!
You get what you pay for.
Just say no to Penzoil...

Rotten Robbie. There always seems to be a tanker truck there filling their tanks. You know the gas is fresh.
You have to look at it this way, How many refineries are in your area? The gas all comes from the same place.

What kind of company is quick trip? Big chain? A few stores? Is it the cheapy station on the corner that is 10 cents cheaper than everyone else with the noname gas? You've got me curious.
