What's the secret in removing the plug of the oxygen sensor?

I got a new O2 oxygen sensor for bank1 sensor 1. For the life of me I could not separate the connector/ plug. I pressed in the hold down clamp but I could not shift it. As a test, I'd thought I'd try separating the plug from bank 2 sensor 1 but couldn't do that either.
The car has covered 283k miles. Is there a secret to removing the connector.
For back 1 sensor 1, I remove the bar across the engine to get to it. but no joy.

Roy

Hold the tab down and twist the two apart with a flathead screwdriver.

Do not twist it, it is not a twisting connector only a push/pull connector with a locking lift tab. Try spraying some 100% silicon spray on the connector shell, then press the lift tab and gently rock the connector shell back and forth. The connector "O" ring often causes the connector to stick.

I ment to put the screw driver and twist in the gap between the two plugs. this was the twisting action will seperate the two.
