Whats next?

Alright, so today I turned 17 and I have some birthday money to spend and there is noone better to ask than you Acuraziners haha I have a 2005 NBP TL w/ black interior & Nav and I was wondering what I should get next. I have approximately 500 to spend and I just got an iSimple installed. My ideas were to either get a 12'sub or get tint. I already have about 40% on it from the previous owner but I kind am want to go around 15%. Is there something better I could spend my money or what is your opinion on tint vs. sub. Thanks

+ on coils!

If you want to go into a sub setup, you will spend money on the sub, amp, wiring, box etc. A decent sub setup will run you around $500-$600(if diy). Tint 200. Coils, 600+ , and install which is another 200 (unless you want to diy it)!

sorry to hear about your dad
so to get this back on topic, have you thought about doing a bunch of little mods like interior led's, upgrading the stock HID bulbs, switchbacks, and intake... im sure doing all of this would be more than 500 but you could prob do a lot of it for 500

Dude times have changed, kids are rocking G37s and IS250/350s and Mercedes now a day. His TL is an 05, which is in the 15-17k range which is honda civic cheap. I am sure you don't call a kid with a brand new civic spoiled, which is the same if not more than an 05 TL right now.

I would def tint your windows. I just put 15% all the way around and love it... Then I spent the rest of the money on little stuff, like Nav hack or new HID bulbs. I got the 05 NBP myself and I did 15% tint, wing spoiler, and type-s tail lights and side markers and love the look.. That would be about $500 and I havent found a car that looks exactly like mine, which is good since there are tons of them around DFW....

the interwebz is serious biznesss.

on that note, save up some more money and spend it on the aspec lip kit.
or a turbo.

RV6 V3 jpipe = $470
aspec lip kit = $750
coils = $600+
springs = $200+
tint = $100+

what was that saying on captain planet????

The Choice is yours!

Save it for when you have to buy tires. As much as it sucks maintenance > cosmetics.

A warning to all....

People.....TarHeel asked for your input on mods for his TL, that's all! If you'd like to suggest ways to mod his car within the $500 range-do it. Just answer his mod question and leave it at that! He does not have to answer anyone's questions about his personal life.

Got it????

NOTE: I got mad enough to completely clean this thread of any bashing and unnecessary person stuff that has nothing to do with the the OP's orginal question. If I clean up any other posts about personal life stuff, that person will be getting a one week early Fall vacation.

Me too

As for my suggestion.... Why not do something you'll enjoy everytime you drive? The best bang for buck mods are subs and switchbacks turn signals.
Honestly, you'll hear that bass kick in everyday and everyone including their momma will love it.
Switchbacks are just gangsta.

IMO, I wouldn't do the subs, cause if you do one thing to your car audio you gotta do to the rest speakers, amps, etc. I say just save up a little bit more for coilovers. If you want performance get a J-Pipe.

I added 2 subs, amp and everything necessary to add them in my car for $365. An extra $40 for materials to make a custom box but it was $365 initially.

I got the windows tinted for $140 with moleskin on the front two windows.

So, do both

Rear Sway Bar --- Comptech or Progress --- Possibly the best performance mod for the money. Comptech is around $200 or less installed.

Which mods are easiest?

I am wanting to know which mods are possible for someone who does not know hardly anything about the electrical wiring or not a large background cars. I have looked around a ton on this website and am worried about messing up my car by modding it. So basically I am asking which of these mods am I safe to do and which ones are out of my reach? Today, I installed moleskin and that was easy but I am in the future wanting to:
-Paint front grill 'Acura' letters white
-HID Reverse Lights
-Recover interior with carbon fiber
-Wrap front grille in vinyl
-Swap yellow interior lights to LEDs
-Take off rear bumper and swap taillights
-Trunk LED lights
-Hookup Sub/Amp
So based on what you guys have done to your cars, which of these would be the hardest/easier to do and where should I start?

Swapping the interior lights is simple..just plug and play
Next would probably be the trunk lights, just takes a screwdriver and taking apart of the trunk lining a bit and you're set! just order the right bulbs!

And you can also buy the vinyl sticker letters for acura lettering on the front bumper, much easier to do than painting and it looks just as great, just my 2 cents they're cheap on ebay too

I just had 30% Formula One Comfort Tint put on and really like it. I would say go for the tint, and bank the rest for an exhaust. My next big spend will be on a RV6 V3 J-pipe.

Ebay links for interior lights

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/new-kind-l-e-d-thread-790794/

I ordered everything that SharksBreath linked but ordered these ones for the license plate instead
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-pcs...item2eac500992
They're brighter, less expensive, and free shipping.

I'm interested in doing the HID reverse lights too, but the wiring seems a bit too complicated for me.

if you are MT your sway is already 20mm, AT is 18mm, so it would be a great upgrade for AT, not so much for MT.

i say keep it for tires. from one teen to another, we both know how we drive these cars. i went through two sets of tires in less than a year lol
1400 in less than 10 months, no bueno. im guessing you also have a job, so in due time you'll be able to do some mods. I'm saving 1500 for maintenance before i even touch my car so i can be prepared for when something goes wrong. its no fun now but it will be later.
