Question What's this gizmo?

Little access plate next to the "P" in the shifter for AT's. Has a little notch I suppose for inserting a screwdriver to pry it open. Just thought I'd ask as I'm too lazy to RTFM. Probably not in there anyway.

Actually it is mentioned in the manual!!! It is the way to unlock the shifter manually, if for any reason it is locked/stucked.

According to the manual (I never read it but someone told me), if your transmission won't come out of park, you can remove that little cover and stick your key in the slot to release the transmission. Older TL's, and probably all Honda products, only had a slot, but our TL gets a little cover.

insert your key and allow you to shift the transmission to N or whatever you want in case you car is stucked or need to tow your car or behind the trailer. My TL comes with the cover in the glove box, and I simply put it onto the plate to cove the whole.
