anyone know what size flange it is for the third cat. im planning on replacing it with a test pipe, but i need to know what size the piping is, and the distance from 1 hole to another.

its a triangular flange and if anyone knows the size, please post them

While I do not know the flange size, please keep us posted on this mod. I would love to pull some of the cats on this car to gain some extra ponies!

Is there a gasket there? If there is, you could check it at the dealer. Have the gasket in hand and check the bolt pattern and the inner diameter. It could be of help.

While the TL might have enough resonators and mufflers to help keep the noise down, removing a cat often makes the car sound especially bad. I dont think it will be noticeable because there is so much sound reduciton in the exhaust system but it does change the sound, and usually not for the better...
