Can anyone who has gone through a shift knob/boot swap out on the TL advise me on the way the silver surround ring connects to the top of the carbon fiber console? Do I need to remove the entire console to swap out the pleather boot, or can I simply gently pry the silver surround piece loose? I am thinking I will need to pull the entire console, but wanted to check here first to see if anyone has gone through this already!

I am talking about a 6MT here.

There's an order form in the back of the owner's manual, or you can click here , then type in 61SEP00 (zero zero) in the search window, which will bring you to the owner's manual. Don't let the 2.5/3.2TL worry you, it is the correct one for the 2004 3.2TL.

 

Thanx! In this instance I took the low road, and simply cut the stock boot out of the car. Install was quick and painless, and I didn't have to disassemble the entire console.

 

Which boot and knob did you put? I'm thinking of Momo Evo F16 Carbon...but cannot get it in brushed alluminium so still waiting.
