Unhappy What the TL still needs

There are some things that I wish Acura would have done with the TL. I listed them below. What do you guys think.

1. Navigation system should be able to play movies, while the car is in park

2. The passenger seat should have memory on it also

3. The sub should be a 10, with more juice.

4. The HFL should have different ring tones available.

5. The HFL screen should show the persons name, just like on the phone..instead of the number. (I don't know 90% of the numbers in my phone, I only know them by name. So when I see a number on the ID, I don't know who's calling most the time)

6. The DVD-A should be able to play MP3's, WMA, and AAC files

7. There should be a sunglasses holder in the above console

8. The phone charger should stay on when the car is off.

9. There should be a hole in the console, so the phone cord can stick out of the console while charging.

10. The key should be like the Honda's key, with the keyless remote buttons built into the key, so it's one piece.

11. It needs reclining rear seats.

12. The stereo should have better high freq sound.

It should have 550HP

and again, radar/laser detector that shows Smokey's location on the NAVI Screen, with the voice saying "Slow down MutherF*cker"

None of those things would be free, and I don`t see any that I would be willing to pay extra for.

13. RWD

14. Auto headlights so all the whiners would STFU

15. Auto leveling HID

16. More adjustments for passenger

17. Outside temp in the same area as climate control

18. Side markers blink with TS

19. Self-dimming outside mirrors

20. Massage in the driver seat

21. Katie Holmes in the passenger seat

22. Rear window shade (perferably power)

23. HID fogs

24. No auto 1-2 shift in the 5AT manual shift mode

25. Instant MPG and ETA (based on user mileage input) for non-navi trip computer

And I don't care if the features cost more, just so long as some of these features were available in a package or something.

26. 2nd "Auto leveling HID"! I feel like I'm blinding every oncoming car and pissing off everyone in front of me b/c my trunk is weighed down with necessary work stuff.

27. Live Traffic Updates integrated into NAVI with suggested detours and calculated time savings. (yes, I'd pay a monthly subscription for this, say up to $20.00/month).

28. Mid-range Sound audio adjustment.

29. More refinement on the phone voice command integration, particularly in regards to sending keys to traverse automated attendants.

It's already partially available for $9.99/month, on XM.

while it goes away maybe the whiners could get some sense. 11 of the first 12 'needs' are stupid. only the alternate audio formats make sense. yeesh.

Stupid to you maybe, but he took the time to point out some very fair critcisms of his car. Cut him some slack, and if you don't like the thread don't read it, and don't respond. It's a very simple concept to grasp.

Probably some of them will show up in the new RL, but you will pay the price. I'm happy with the trade off, except of course no auto headlights.

That's a good idea - Then I wouldn't be able to buy it in Arizona, because it would be illegal there (and probably most other states as well).

As a result, your TL would become more valuable, and also increase people moving to your state because they could own TLs there. Hmmm ... new way to boost your local economy?

The passenger seat should be an 8 way power, maybe with lumbar as well. Heck, the MDX has 8 way passenger on the Touring Package.

jesus .. i want this.. i want that.. it needs this.. so go BUY the friggin 5-Series if that's what you wanted.. but oh yeah.. you get what you GOT for $35k because you didn't want to spend $50k to get whatever else. Christ on earth people.

Heck the MDX has it (as stated) and is only $42k.

Movies in park. Hmmm.. Go in the dang house and watch it ?? I have a 15" screen on my laptop with better clarity and I dont' have to sit in a parked car.

Sunglasses in the top console, so it can rattle in there like my Accord and 2000 TL does/did from the bass vibrations.

The phone cable doesn't have to stick out of the console, they made the HFL for that so the phone can stay wherever it pleases.

MID with CID, Phones (at least Cingular) don't have name display on the CID, they only display the name you associated to the phone#, so why would/how could the MID ?? I spose it could use the Yellow Pages you want on the DVD with the Navi too. Hey better yet, why not just have the Navi cross reference the DVD when the phone rings to bring up the business name.

Guess I need to get breakfast and water before I read this forum. Not good on an empty stomach, w(h)ine never is.

I truly don't understand this uber-geeky obsession that people have today with watching movies in a car. I have never once felt the need to pull over to watch a movie in my @#$@# car. I understand in a big van or SUV if you have kids sitting in the back and you go on long road trips, but on a sedan?

ring tones? Ha! Now I've heard everything! WTF does ANYBODY need "ring tones" for anyway? Hey, IT'S A CALL FOR YOU. ANSWER IT! I personally HATE hearing those different tones. Nothing funny than sitting in a meeting with a guy who's phone goes off on something like "Backstreet boys" and have all his co-workers look at him like he has lost it. Of course NONE of the idiots that use ring tones have ANY idea how to shut them off WITHOUT answering the phone. Ring tones, yea, we NEED ring tones. As John Stosel would say....GIVE ME A BREAK!

Jeez...these people bitching about this thread are just looking to get their post counts up...that's the only justification I can see for their getting them panties in a bunch.

Retards...don't like a thread you're quite welcome to STFU and skip it.

The sad part about the ring tones is that the newer phones come with the worst possible selection of ring tones. My company provided cell phone went from Nextel (normal, telephone sounding ring tone) to Verizon with a phone that must be targetted to the 10-14 year old market because each ring tone is more annoying than the next. I wish my POS Verizon phone (worst signal strength ever, poor quality sound when it does work, and crappy phone interface) had a normal ring tone.

Ring tones help identify who is calling since you can personalize them by caller ID...

It isnt just for novelty.

It is so you dont even have to look at your phone if that annoying person keeps calling back.

Wow that's incredibly insightful! So why aren't you taking your own advice...?

This is a public message board dummies, and as such you are going to have all sorts of opinions and comments you don't agree with. There is no reason to flame every person who's feelings don't reflect yours. I for one love seeing the good and the bad, if I wanted to see nothing but praise for the TL I'd go the Acura website. I come here because I get real world, unbiased opinions from every corner of the country.

If anyone at Acura ever stumbles upon this thread, I want (and will gladly pay for) many of the options listed here. Historically, I have been one to keep a car for at least 10 years and drive it til the wheels fall off. However, with all the impressive technology and integration of the TL, I'm already looking forward to upgrading to a new model within a few very short years. It's reminding me of my laptop computer... Always looking forward to the next best model!!! And, willing to pay for it!!

If you like the good and the bad...what is the problem? That I'm flaming the flamers? You had the same complaint against those flaming the thread starter for what I guess they think is another "useless" wish thread.

Don't like a thread...skip it...wasn't that what you said?

Okay, your word of the day is "hypocrite." Please type up a 250 word essay for the board, and get back to us tomorrow.

Are you on medication? If not you should be. Don't tell me to STFU, I was perfectly content to sit here in anonymity until some of you losers start your bitching, about other people bitching! WTF is that about?

Personally, I like the wish threads. Sometimes while the item didn't come out OEM, there are aftermarket parts that do the same thing like that AVElectronics DVD conversion thing I read about in another thread. I would have had no idea such a thing existed unless someone posted a "Wish it had" thread about it.
There was also one about the window shades and people posted links to an aftermarket electric shade for the new Accords thinking they may also fit the 04 TL.

It's one thing to flame an obvious troller like 1LE but there is no reason to be an ass to a thread starter just because they don't like the thread or 'cause it was done a few weeks earlier.

Ok, I started this thread just to point out some things that I thought would make the TL a better car, and I believe that most of these things could be done for not much more cost, and I WOULD be willing to pay more for them. I could have bought the 5 series, but it still doesn't have all these options, and the TL is still a MUCH better car all the way around than the 5, just the way it sits. There are threads all about the TL and the 3 and the 5, so we all know why the TL is better, I mean sh*t, that's why most of us bought the TL.

As far as re-hashing an old thread.....what the hell else are we going to talk about? This whole site is about re-hashing! There is only so much you can say about a car.....so you have to re-hash subjects from time to time. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Now, for all you haters and fools, I would like to elaborate on WHY these things I mentioned would make the TL a better car for ME!!

1. I am in my car alot for my job. I have several appointments a day, and many times I show up early. I sit there bored off my ass, and it would be nice to watch part of a movie while waiting. Or a porn. There are also times while in the car when the girlfriend runs into the store for 15 minutes, and I don't feel like going in......another time for me to watch a movie...or porn. I mean why the hell would you give me DTS 5.1, but not give me the ability to watch a movie when I am parked? (while I am at it, they should have the option to put moniters in the rear headrests for kids and other passengers on road trips) Estimated cost, $5.00 (the screen is there, the dvd is there, the stereo is there..what else would you need?)

2. When I don't feel like driving, I ride in the passenger seat. When I do, I would like to just punch the button and have the seat where I want it. Also, when I drive, I put my right arm up on the passenger seat. But right when I get the seat where it is comfortable for my arm...somebody F's up the seat position and it takes me a while of reaching over to get the seat back into the right position....Estimated cost, $3.50

3. I like a little more base....a 10 would be nice. If a person didn't like it, they could turn the volume down on the base volume....this might cost about 30 bucks more.....which is about 0.00085 % of the overall cost of the car.

4. I like different ring tones. On my phone, I have all my numbers personlized with their own rings, so when my phone rings, I don't even have to look at it to know who's calling. If I was driving down the road and a personalized ring tone came on, I would not even havet to take my eyes off the road to know who is calling. I don't leave my ring on in meetings....and I don't have the backstreet boys for one of them. I have N'Sinc

5. See # 4

6. I have thousands of songs on CD that are in MP3's, AAC, WMA, format. It sure would be nice to be able to play them in the car. You can put a sh*t load of one of these formats on a disc, it would be nice to not have to always be changing CD's. I think most would agree with this. (the Accord has a MP3 player you can add, and it is an inferior car for a lot less money) Estimated cost, $20.00

7. I always wear sunglasses. I would be nice to have a place to put them, other than the pocket by the gear shift. I can barely get my hand in there, and the pocket is so deep, that I am elbow deep by the time I find my F'ing glasses! Just give me a GD sunglasses holder up top, like my inferior 2003 Accord had. Estimated cost, $3.15

8. I leave my phone in the car over night alot. It would be nice if the mother F'er could be charging while it is sitting there? Again, I think most would agree with this. This would cost abut 1 cent. That is about .0000002% of the cost of the car.

9. This would be nice for people who don't have a bluetooth phone...though I do have a bluetooth phone. This would cost about 25 cents.

10. The inferior accord has this option. Just nice to reduce the clutter in my pocket. Estimated cost, $2.35

11. When I ride in the back on a road trip, I would like to recline. I am tall....sorry. Estimated cost $1000.00 (which I would pay)

12. Sometimes my speakers sound like they have pillows over them. You would think with ES's thousands of grammy's, he would have been able to figure out how to get some high freqency into the system. (and some bass) Estimated cost, $500 for speaker upgrade.

Well, that's my 2 cents (.0000005% of the cost of the car)
Like it or not, that's how I feel about some of the options. Just MY opinion, and I realize that some of you agree and disagree. I think that's what this board is for anyway. If in anycase anybody from Acura ever comes across this board, maybe they can take some advise from the people who actually buy their cars....us.

All in all, the simple options I listed above, along with others that other people have posted, would not cost that much (not including Katie Holmes) more to add on. I most people WOULD pay more. At least give us the option to add these, so if you want them you can, if you don't want them you don't have to.

About $1,000 / hour. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Lightbulb Re: What the TL still needs...

I have no appointments today.... so... I add it up...

IMHO. I don't know how to say, but your theory is not working. It's good to know ppl like to have these features...

1. DVD player/screen/system in the front of vehicles is illegal. Manufacturors are not allowed to put it on for customers, you have to risk yourself and put it on afterwards.

They agree there is the market out there, but they cannot do it, and the demands for this may be limited.

Estimated cost: more than $100.

2. Good ideas to have more-than-8-ways adjustment chairs in each position, but add-up cost (plus other devices) will kill 04TL's market since Acura likes to limit their options and build the standard vehicles for sales.

04TL, the upscale sedan (near-luxury-sedan) is not perfect. You may need to buy luxury sedan and add these options.

3. The starndards are varied by ppl's preferences. No system can be satisfied by all the ppl.

4. 04TL is not the perfect car at this moment. There is no product having all the best features all-in-one. And, it's hard to expect all features you like and all options you see are successfully installed into your car.

Ringtone is good idea, but I prefer to having the system in the car which directly transfer my phone features into my car. For me, I like to see the car just pickup/transfer whatever setting my cell phone has, I do't need cars to have additional system to handle these PHONE features.

6. MP3 should be the easy add-up...

7. Sunglass storage seems useful, I don't need it though.

8. How many Cellular brands do we have? How many different adapters Acura needs to make? I see no point to have cell charged overnight. I don't want to have anything drain my battery. How's about putting the phone in the car for a week? Drain the battery for a week?

You still can charge your Cell at home/office.

9. You could rest your cell inside the central storage room behind the hand-brake. There is a hole/plug for you to charge your devices.

10. The integrated key could be used soon.

11. How many cars do you see have this kind of chair in the rear seat? For the same level of cars, buying Maximia could help yourself enjoy. Why Maxima cannot build the same car as Acura? Add this and add that could do...

Again, Acura tries to keep their production lines simply, to provides tons of options into models is not the way Acura deal with their market now.

12. Too much...

I'll pay more to get this car equipped some of devices/system/features/options you're talking about. But, if Acura just tries to build a car, which could be accepted by most of ppl, it's 04TL for now. The model adding everything on won't be the choice for Acura now.

Unless "build a car sticking with high $$$ and sell to certain group of ppl" or "produce a car less $$$ and sell to majority of ppl", Acura won't be easy to get profit. In 2004, they may think the way to get maximun sales and money from the market is to have current 04TL at 35k with current features.

IMO, it's not so easy to build a car. You cannot simple put everything into the vehicle you're gonna mass produce. Otherwise, why should we need to see Conept Car? Why manufacturors just add everything they can find into the car? It's easy, right? ....

:smackhead

I have tons of stuff I like Acura to make it happen in my car, but what can I do? Have another thread and start to whine? It's not going to help me. I don't have to do so.

I enjoy seeing ppl's opinions, good/bad, agree/disagree. I don't mind ppl writing them up. This is the forum for ppl to express what they think... if they think this is the only/best way to release themselves...

Update: I saw what you wrote... "good points, I just dis-agree with you on all of them"... I never expect you have to approve any of them... welcome the club...

Anybody in Maxima forum can ask Nissan to put these add-ups you said above to their car, and let's see if Maxima can be the better car after being equiped with all of them.
