At what speeds to shift - 5AT

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering at what speeds you normally shift at while in SS. I'm just wondering as I want to know when it is safe to downshift into a lower gear whenever I need that extra power (i.e.: to get that yellow light, passing power,etc.). I would think that it is somewhere in the manual but I couldn't find anything.

It would help if any of you would just list the speeds for me. Thanks

2nd to 3rd:?
3rd to 4th:?
4th to 5th:?

yea it doesn't really matter when you downshift. i'm pretty sure it won't let you downshift unless it is within the predetermined range of rpm's (same with upshifting)....glad the car's smarter than we are sometimes hehe =)

The car won't let you hurt its tranny so push or pull to your hearts content and see how much fun you can have. The VTEC doesn't kick in until 4,700RPM and that's the start of the fun zone.

On the highway, I love when those STI's and EVOs want to play at around 50 - 60 mph. I let off the gas, downshift to 2nd and stomp. Shift to 3rd at 6500rpm and I win everytime. Its funny when they keep trying and same results. Of course I am boosted though.

He's referring to downshifting. I'm not sure if looking at the tach will help.

6200 rpm is peak hp, shift around there.

Shifting at redline will get you closer to peak HP in your next gear though.

during normal drivnig conditions i usually upshift:

2nd to 3rd:20
3rd to 4th:30
4th to 5th:40
....right after 2000rpms

and i downshift:

5th to 4th: 40 (right before car downshifts automatically)
4th to 3rd: 20 (right before car downshifts automatically)
3rd thru 1st: the car does automatically (when coming to a complete stop)

I feel like since i'm spending most of my time in 4th or 5th gear i'm saving gas (but who knows)....but am I putting strain on the transmission by constantly being at such low rpms?
