What Should We Expect?

I'm sure you've all seen my other post asking whether or not the TL was a good match for us...After taking my mom to see it, we're pretty sure it is...although the test drive on Wed. will be the deciding factor.

Here is my next question...

I did a search on pricing and what people are paying for their '04 TLs, and came up with a huge range.

We are in New England, The dealership we're working with has sold cars to 2 family members in the last 2 years, it's a large volume dealer. My mom wants a Desert Mist, which from what I gather, is the LEAST popular color. The dealer lot has 16 TLs as of now. They are also running an "April To Remember" Sale right now...and according to the ad, are taking thousands of selected in stock 2004 Acuras...no clue if that would apply. ALSO...it's the very end of the month, which is known to be one of the best times to buy a car.

So...My mom wants a Desert Mist, auto, w/o nav...which has an MSRP of $33,195.

Can anyone take a guess as to what she should expect to pay?

Obviously, we'll talk pricing when we take the test drive, but I was just curious as to what you all think.

That's decent...i'm gonna shoot for $30,500...

After reading a bunch of posts...it seems like the majority of people with the combo my mom wants paid just over $30k

That sounds very possible considering that there is generally an over abundance of the non-NAVIs on dealer lots. I am just south of your in Boston and got one with Navi for $2000 below MSRP from Acura of Boston. Since you live in a tax free state, it may be better to stay in NH if quotes from neighboring dealers are similar. But don't hesistate to get quotes from dealers in MA or VT since you may end up saving significantly if you are willing to drive a little. Good luck.

Thank you

Actually, even if we end up buying a car in Mass, becuase we are NH residents we still don't pay any taxes...my mom bought her last car at a dealer in Mass.

Plus, we are in Southern NH, pretty close to the NH/Mass border...Boston is less than an hour away...so it may be worth it to get quotes from Mass dealers

I was not aware of that...interesting. Well, I sound like a broken record but I've continued to recommend my dealer, Acura of Boston, to those in the Boston area. Ask for Debbie Robertson, who was my salesperson. It took only 30 minutes of easy negotiations to get $2K off a NAVI and there was no pressure whatsoever to purchase overpriced accessories. Just tell them David from this forum mentioned her name and she'll take care of you. Regardless, I hope you and your family get the TL at a great price wherever you get it from. Good luck.

Krg - Are you guys planning to buy on Wednesday if the test drive goes well? Wednesday through Friday may be a great time since it's the end of the month (when more dealers are willing to deal to meet monthly quotas). I agree with what others have said here - you should hold out for a significant discount on a non-Navi. Good luck!

I paid $31599.00 on March 13, 2004 as the vehicle value then all the taxes and destination fees were added. I have NBP with Gray interior and No/ Nav. When I purchased they had 38 non navi TL's on the lot and three came in on a carrier that day. I live in Boca Raton Florida

I don't know...I know my mom really wants to test drive the XC90 before she decides. She just told me she's really leaning towards the TL though, because she's heard so much about Honda's reliability. I would assume that if the deal is good enough, they'll buy before the end of the week.
