I normally shift at about...2500-3000 RPM, but when my friend was driving my car yesterday..he was shifting at like...3500-6000 RPM...
he drives an EVO with like...320+ HP maybe a lot more......and he says that he shifts on his car at like..6000 regularly....what do you guys think?

Keep Right Except to Pass
When I shift depends on a number of variables. If the engine is cold, I try never to rev much above 3000 rpm until the engine is warmed up, based on something I read years ago advising this.
Beyond that, it depends on whether (1) I will accelerating after the shift or more or less maintaining my speed and (2) whether I want to accelerate hard or whether I am driving in a more leisurely fashion. In scenario (1) I normally won't rev much above 3500, and I've noticed that in the TL you can shift up at lower revs than that without lugging the engine. (I was used to the 3500 neighborhood from prior cars.) In scenario (2) I generally don't go much above 5000, although I've redlined it a couple of times, generally in situations where some asshole doesn't want to let me get over for my exit so I decide to one-up him.

3-4K RPM for normal driving. Around 6K RPM for freeways, smoking an EVO, etc.
Builds RPM really, really fast in 1st & 2nd...gotta pay attention. Rev limiter kicks in about 6800 RPM...

Try it once, and you will never go back!!
Although your gas mileage will reflect it!

lol...some of these answers kill me....I shift at 3k and when driving into work
( backroads and with traffic) I cruise at 2K in sixth gear......I can't wait to get out on the open road and waste some gas........

I shift based on the "feel" and sound of the car, who really watches the RPM's anyway? When I have glanced at the RPM's while shifting, it's generally always between 3 and 4k.

When it was brand new(stock), the rev-limiter kicked in at around 6700-6800 rpm. Beleive it or not, I put the aem on there and it seems to have stretched my gears a little bit? I seriously got 200-300 more rpms before the rev limiter engages. SO- if im racing around, I shift at 7000+ rpms-which is tricky w/out hitting the rev limiter. Otherwise, 1st to 2nd @ 3000, then all the others below 3000 rpm

normal driving shift between 3-4K, spiritted driving take it all the way just past 6K. i don't know why people still think vtec is some kind of turbo boost. vtec on our cars is meant to keep a smooth transition from one set of cams to the other. this helps maintain a nice smooth hp and torque curve.

Agree with getting piss-poor MPG if you frequently run up to 6K RPM on stop and go commutes.
I granny-shift going to work - 3K RPM. Keeps from scaring the "Slugs" (a unique commuting system in DC - pull up, two people hop in, off you go on the HOV) I pick up to get to work also.
I get 25-28 MPG commuting into DC, 30+ MPG on the highway on business trips, the difference being cruising at 2K RPM in 6th, without having to drop to 4th to pass the blonde in the HOV lane, going 65 in her Civic Hybrid, talking on her cell phone. Gosh, don't get me started about people talking on the phone while they drive.
The TL is so quiet, I've looked down a couple of minutes after down-shifting to pass someone and realized I was still in 5th...

my rev limiter didnt kick in till i went past 7k rpm. I dont know why yours blocks it at 6,800. I felt the msot power around 6,900/7,000 rpm, i could actually feel more force around that rpm
