What kind of music you listen to while you drive your TL? MERGED WITH Driving Music?

Just wondering what tunes other 3rd gen. owners put on while on the road.

My current playlist includes "standard" alternative stuff - artists like: She Wants Revenge, Matisyahu, Fall Out Boy, Death Cab for Cutie (no, I'm not as "underground" as I used to be).

If not in the disc changer, always within an arm's length: Miles (Kind of Blue), Coltrane (Giant Steps), Rush (Moving Pictures), Marley (Legend). Some Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Seal, Everything But the Girl can be found lying around.

Current "guilty" pleasure: Kelly Clarkson. Guilty as far as some of my buddies are concerned anyway, who always give me crap.

And of course, anything by U2. Been a huge fan since the early 80s.

XM satellite radio stations- BPM, Beyond Jazz, Decades- '80s, The System, Audiovisions. The absence of commercials by mortgage lenders, mattress & car dealers, etc. on XM compared to commercial radio is well worth the subscription price!

My changer right now:
1. DVD-A comp
2. DVD-A comp
3. DVD-A comp
4. DVD-A comp
5. DVD-A comp
6. DVD-A comp

At least 90-97 songs on each disc all made with Adobeman's script. Albeit 2 channel, it's all good. Coupled with XM, good to go - commercial free and no repeats either. I have 14 DVD-A discs [all compilations] ranging from classical to rock.

That is cool. I have been to quite a few Rush concerts when I lived up in the northeast. Serious hearing damage... Subdivisions at level 35+ in the TL will cause people to look at you. Especially when it's some 44 year old guy. My kids think their father is nuts.

Too varied to list......this will send your mind flying.....Kottonmouth Kings, Big B, Daddy X, OPM, Phunk Junkees, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rush, (and here we depart a bit) Hall & Oates, Kenny G, Basia, Luther Vandross, Earth Wind & Fire, (back to reality) Najee, NWA, Ice-T, Quincy Jones Back on the Block(personal favorite QJ compilation artist CD)

I have a varied cast of characters/clients around...so have music on hand to suit about any taste no matter what time of day or night. Plus...what I listen to can vary with my mood at the time. Most of the people in my area dont know what to think when I go by, could be just about anything!

One of my fav things to do each year is to go to the annual jazz festival just to check out the music. Have been exposed to more types/artists that I would have never seen or thought about before!

I cycle my Genesis in and out of the car. Long time fan of the older Genesis. I have to have the Supper's Ready track for long trips. I do wish they would re-release on DVD-A... Not going to happen...

Currently my CD changer has the following in it:

1) CD-R compilation
2) DVD-A of "Rumours"
3) DTS surround version of "Hell Freezes Over"
4) 20th Anniversary CD/SACD of "Brothers in Arms" (plays as a CD in the car)
5) CD of "Smile"
6) CD of the Corrs Live in Dublin

XM presets:

XM-1: 1) 214 (DC traffic); 2) 7 (70s); 3) 8 (80s); 4) 40 (Deep Tracks); 5) 46 (Top Tracks); 6) 131 (BBC World Service)

XM-2: 1) 140 (ESPN); 2) 141 (ESPNews); 3) 150 (Comedy); 4) 130 (MSNBC); 5) 175 (MLB Home Plate); 6) 206 (one of the NHL channels; can tune the others from here)

It doesn't make sense to have 140 and 141 programmed, but I just haven't fixed it yet.

For long road trips I often bring along some mixed tapes, too. Yes, I said "tapes"; all of my mixed tapes are on C90s or C100s and thus won't fit onto CD-Rs.

I also have similar taste in music as you and also like a few Kelly Clarkson songs which I will only listen to when no friends are in my TL!

99% of the time, some type of heavy metal (people not seen on MTV or heard on the radio) or classic rock. Presently I have Smashing Pumpkins Greatest Hits in the CD player.

Because when I purchased it the only version available was the SACD. Sounds great at home on my universal player. I don't see the need to buy yet another version of it because it still sounds fine when played as a CD.

Lots of Ennio Morricone compilations on CD-R's, lots of soundtracks ("The Lord Of The Rings" is a particular favorite) and lots of heavy metal.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think this is what I got in my changer.

1. some Paul van Dyk mix
2. some Carl Cox mix
3. Snow Patrol
4. Coldplay
5. 3eb
6. some Greenday mix

I usually listen to the radio a lot, though. We have a few sweet alt rock stations here.
