you're going to use a pre-mixed solution of 50/50.

you can use any color, as long as the bottle says "PHOSPHATE AND SILICATE FREE!"

forgot to mention that previous owner had a blueish color in there now. And I have never seen a blue one before. I seen yellow and green but not blue. Is there something special about the blue one? And where can I find/buy it?

toyota uses pink honda uses blue.

DEXCOOL is phosphate and silicate free and is orange.

You'll never find pink or blue coolant unless you buy from the car dealer

assuming; the previous owner knew that his engine block is aluminum and made sure not to use anything with phosphate or silicate in it.

Head to your Honda dealer and pick up their coolant; if you are unsure.

Yes-- you can always have a seized part, or cut yourself.
However, less can go wrong during this process than most.

The Honda coolant is blue and is meant to function for twice lifespan of the green coolant.

The Honda fluid was green originally. It changed to blue sometime after 2004. The interval for a coolant change is 120K miles or 10 years for the first change, then every 60K miles or 5 years when using Honda fluid.

Personally, I use Honda fluid and change at the recommended intervals. Honda fluid is indeed expensive, but over time it's very economical IMO.

It's personally one of these things I have no trouble spending on because it's such a big interval between changes it doesn't seem logical to cheap out on it. I wouldn't say if you needed to change it every 6 months, then maybe I'd consider.

Bought my 04 TL couple weeks ago and i was unsure what antifreeze was in their but it looks like a Greenish colour. I seen it was at or just below the MIN line so I had a bit of Prestone 50/50 mix that i topped it up with.
I poured in maybe half a cup. Is this OK to mix if I was unsure?
I am slowly doing all my maintenance for the car and a flush and fill for engine coolant will be on my list.
Will the half cup of prestone mixed with unknown antifreeze damage anything?

It's coolant though, half a cup doesn't matter.

it wont matter.

because the radiator and engine block is aluminum, you want to make sure that the coolant doesnt have phosphates or silicates.

phosphates and silicates WILL FUCK YOUR ENGINE UP!

so, its okay to mix as long as the coolant is silicate and phosphate free.

Yeah and the phosphate ones are really hard to digest anyway.

you do not want to mix dexcool with anything else... nope don't do it. Honda does not it used in their engines at all. Personally I use the Honda/Acura coolant and no issues. my 02 CL-S has had 3 coolant changes in it's 140K mile life so far. car came with green, flushed it out at 50K and then again at 120K with the blue stuff
