What does Cingular have for bluetooth?

I have been dying to get a bluetooth phone so i can use this feature in my ride and i have Cingular as a provider. Cingular doesn't have any phones that i like that have bluetooth technology. I would prefer a clam shell phone. Does anyone know if Cingular is coming out with any new bluetooth phones? I really like the Motorola V600 coming out for Cingular?

Bluetooth and Cingular

I have the Sony/Ericcson 616 and it works great with the TL. I looked for a Clamshell phone and Cingular did not have any. The Siemans S56 also works. I think you will have to wait until February or March for a clamshell phone on Cingular. You might want to check out Howards Forums. Good Luck!

I have the Siemans S56, and it works fine. I even made a call while I was parked in the garage and the phone was in the house.

I have Cingular, and have the Sony T616, and it works great. It also displays the battery and signal strength that some other models apparently do not.

Last time I checked with a Cingular representative they said that the V600 will be coming out in or around February. I am really looking forward to this model as well. And Motorola has updated their review of the V600 to make me think it will be coming out pretty soon.

S56

I got the S56 as my Bluetooth enabled option. It works great. The reception is great too. It works better than the Motorola vi60 I had before my TL. You would be happy with the Siemans S56.

Do all these phones show EVERY feature in the MID...

Caller ID, Signal Strength, (and does caller ID ever show name), call, waiting caller ID, etc?

or do some not support every function?

Re:Mike

My S56 shows up as "incoming call" and unless I am missing somthing does not show caller id on the MID. It does show signal strength and battery strengh. It also says "in use" when you are on it in the car.
Hope this helps you.

I thought the MID was supposed to show caller ID.. or maybe name if it is in the TLs phone directory.

I have a TMobile T68i.
The display shows battery & signal strength.
For some unknown reason, it also shows RM (Roaming). ?!

When I get calls, it shows the "INCOMMING CALL" or the caller's number, depending on if they call from a blocked number or not.

I do not get a name to show up from the phone, and the TL does not have a text directory, so there is no way it could show up from there.

I really do wish that the MID was better integrated into the NAVI system, and that we could program the cellphone numbers from the touch-screen.
(Heck, I wish we could sync up address books with other bluetooth devices, like my PDA does with Outlook.)

Lastly, I wish that when I dialed a number using my cellphone, that it would automatically pick up on the car. The phone prompts me to do this, I just haven't been able to get it to work yet.

Nextel uses an IDEN type network. I do NOT forsee anyone making an IDEN phone with Bluetooth. At least no ones talking about it. So far 99% of the Bluetooth phones are GSM.

I agree. They are not quite there yet when it comes to seemlessly integrating all of the devices together. But for a first generation product, I think HandFreeLink in the TL works pretty darn well. The technology will just get better and better with each new generation.

As far as the V600 goes, I just got an e-mail from Motorola that said, "We are only weeks away from introduction". They are also running a great promotion. If you are one of the first 600 people to register your new V600, they will give you a free Bluetooth headset worth $150. Click here for details.

Agreed. For a first-gen product, this is great.
(Not sure if it's truly first gen, I've had a bluetooth kit in my last car for 6 months; but it was never this good.)
