What does the Auto 5 speed do in 0-60 in?

Does any one know or have a hard data on this. Does the Auto tranny suck that bad and take up that much HP to make the car slow?

I've read anywhere form 6.0 to 6.3 in the 0-60 with the 5AT. It feels that fast to me.

I have not seen an Auto reported on by a magazine yet, Acura said it was around 6.6seconds at the ride and drives.

All reviews with test equipment have been the 6spd MT

Geez, the guy asks if anyone KNOWS, has anyone tried it or do they have a reference, oh what the hell, I'll guess 6.3. Hmm, but I'll check with my wife.

From: Yahoo! Canada Autos Review:

The 6-speed manual offers light, purposeful shifts while the clutch pedal requires a firm push and a delicate clutch engagement to prevent lurching. The manual transmission includes a self-adjusting clutch and a dual-mass flywheel. With the manual tranny, Acura quotes 0 to 60 mph times of only 6.3 seconds, while TLs with the automatic do the same distance in 7.2 seconds. The engine lets out a mild roar under hard acceleration, but is otherwise extremely quiet, as is the cabin in general.

No doubt with a little throttle and some careful engaging of the clutch, you can get the manual to perform better as some of the testers have found. The automatic seems to be quoted about the same as last year's stock TL. Hmmm..

It's NOT right. Did ya see the mag that it was taken from? Uhhh, Canadian. Nope, no credibility here! 7.2...that's a bunch of horse shiit and we all know it.

Trust me, if it was 7.2 I WOULDN'T be even considering the Auto TL. I would settle for an Audi! HA LOL! Now I'm gonna here it from the Audi lovers...SHUT THE HELL UP! I trest drove an Audi and didn't like it so there! AHHHHH!

I have read that the Auto does 6.3 seconds at the high end and some guy in this forum has quoted 6.1 as his best time and 6.3 as his slowest time. I can't remember which thread it was but it was in here.

I bet all the 6 speed guys are laughing at us saying "should have got the 6 speed":thefinger Well I know the 7.2 second 0-60 is bull$hit. I just scanned the Honda Accord 0-60 time for the 6-cylinder auto from C&D and they are getting 7.0. That car only has 240 and no SS mode for the tranny. So kick that 7.2 :bigun2: :rocketwho time to the curb.

0-60 5AT

Here's the link:

http://ca.autos.yahoo.com/cd/tstdrv/...04acuratl.html

The author merely quotes Acura. I was refering to last year's non-S TL time 0-60 time. Since I own a new 5AT I'd be interested in a real test time if anyone can find it.

Donte, no one has published any independent, instrumented numbers for the 5AT. All the reviews I've seen simply quote Acura. I don't even care to guess, I'm too busy driving.

Here's another site claiming the 0-60 is 7.2 for the '04 TL

I have a G-Tech and have tested every car I've owned the past several years. Below are the results of the cars I own now. The G-Tech is very accurate, within a .1 of a Sec.

2003 Corvette Z06 4.2 (Would do better with better Driver)
2002 Camaro Z-28 Auto 5.2 (Bone Stock)
2004 Acura TL Auto 6.3 (W/Traction off 1,050 Miles)
2003 Chevy S10 P/U 5spd 4 banger No time (went to sleep)

Guys, pay attention...0-60 times and 0-100 km/h are more different than most people think. 100km/h corresponds to 62.1m/h and believe it or not but sometimes the acceleration of 60 to 62.1 can take up to half a second. I have seen even to close to a second!

For example, with a manual transmission, sometimes 60 m/h is the limit (redline) for the 2nd gear. So, 0-60 will be fast but 0-100km/h will be much slower since a shift to 3rd gear has to be made...Same things happen with an automatic.

With that said, I am not sure if this explains the big difference between the auto and 6mt times for the TL...

Rbraud - Grrrr.

Thanks to you, I'm probably going to order a G-Tech Competiton today. I hate you!

And, I'll probably get my first moving violation a day or two after it arrives! :cop:

This thread has the data I collected at 680 miles:
http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=64189

Here are the times from three runs, see the thread for more details:
#1 1/4 mile: 14.75 @ 95.5
0-60: 6.27

#2 1/4 mile: 14.75 @ 96.3
0-60: 6.30

#3 I ran one more 0-60.
0-60: 6.15

I have not had a chance to retest at a higher mileage yet.

Both that one .....including the G-Tech are not very accurate ..

They calculate times as in linear motion ..they dont compensate for shifting ....

they could very well be off by 1/2 to a full second ...

Consumer Reports got 6.7 for the auto, but we can be sure their testing procedures are conservative.

Presumably they don't try to use the throttle and brake at launch, but other than that, you'd think they would use dry, clear conditions.

While running the Gtech2 at the strip on my 330i 5mt, the damn Gtech was within .01 on every run. 3 runs, spot on.

So I guess acura_driver times are pretty accurate. Also with only 680 miles on his car at the time of the test we can expect to be going faster. Ok this makes me feel a lot better. I can now drink myself into oblivion for the New Year and not worry that I have a slow ass car.

Zero to 60 in 6.3 AND 32MPG on the highway (recent trip). BEST balance of power and economy I've seen in quiet some time. I LIKE IT!!!

Yeah they are they also got 6.8 for the Maxima and G35 in a recent test, so that tells you that they are all very close if you use their times for the automatic versions..
