Everyone needs to get their sand out their vagina. OP, what I did is just lift up the liner when I need groceries or something, putting them where the spare would go. When the cover is down, I can put a stroller on there, but I'm gentle with it. I don't just chunk it in there like I saw my wife do one time....

Personally I have AAA platinum and my first 200 miles are free of charge.
Here's what I did and it work. Get a board and spray expanding foam. That will cure HARD and be light weight

Obviously, I've been on this forum for years and I'm not some kid blasting know-it-all posts here. Yes, I have no spare, yes I run with scissors, yes I walk when it says don't walk, yes I still have my carpet and my flip up mdf board in the trunk... No, I don't take my car on road trips (I take the wife's MDX, ever tried fitting a family of 6 in a TL, do the math), no I don't get flat tires (yeah I said it), no I've never had my wheel fall off (I use the lug nuts), no I'm not going to put the spare back in because of a couple of kids calling it "fucking retarded to take the spare out). I don't hit curbs, I avoid construction sites, and I dodge debris in the road. I'm an excellent driver and I'm going to start my own "offensive driving school" with the motto "Sometime the best defensive and a good offensive" so I can pass fucktard kids who watch one too many geico insurance companies...

I posted a simple question of what did you do with your empty spare tire compartment. If you did nothing to your trunk area (and this is really important), POST NOTHING (see how that works). If you did something constructive, please tell the rest of the class so that others can borrow/steal your ideas (yes, I know stealing is bad but i do it anyway because it adds excitement and I like to see if I can get away with it)...

Now I know why I should have upgraded to the 4th generation TL...

Why would you upgrade to a 4g tl??? Dont you know they weigh a few hundred lbs more. Just saying.

But yes I agree with you lol. Just busting your nuts. Get this thread back on track

The only other thing I could think of is that the 4g is a more mature crowd maybe

When I bought my car, it doesn't come with one. Need to find a cheap one on Craigslist. I'm not so worry, I'm a AAA Plus member. They'll tow my car for 100 miles.

I've got an old plastic tool box and thought about drilling a hole in the bottom of it and bolting it down with the existing spare tire bolt. It would support the liner and keep my tools bolted down...

I would not remove my spare tire. It's like having insurance. It is a PITA but worth every penny when you really need it.

If I did I would use it to keep my jumper cables, emergency kit, supplies and a change of clothes. Basically everything I have in a Banker's Box now.

I don't get it either. If you take out the spare to lower the weight, how much of a difference is 3,480 vs 3,450 lbs?

Wouldn't it make more sense for the weight weenies to just drive around with an empty gas tank? You could save 70 lbs there....

Thank you. Anyone considering using a can of fix-a-flat on a speed rated performance tire with TPMS is making a mistake.

A tire can not be properly and safely fixed while still mounted. Yes many people still use string plugs, but it's a cheap solution and you are not able to inspect the inside of the tire during that process. You can take a tire that's full of sealant to a shop to have it properly repaired and I am sure they will really enjoy trying to clean all that crap out of there...

The extra cargo space would be nice, but for me averaging 1 flat or nail in the tire every two years, it's not worth it.

Beware that the author of the linked article has an negative perspective on the topic. I think that I have presented sufficient evidence that the TL Diet works.
